Ever since Comic-Con 2014, fans have been slavering and speculating about which monsters will make an appearance in the upcoming Godzilla: King of the Monsters flick. Legendary already confirmed that they had acquired the rights to Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah, but which and how many of the beasts would appear in the monstrous slugfest (or any additional monsters) was up in the air. Now we've got a trailer and a pretty good idea of the monster roster.

First up, we've got Mothra, the irradiated mutant moth, who is actually an ancient goddess worshipped by the inhabitants of Infant Island. In past films, Mothra is a largely heroic character, but Godzilla has mixed it up with her before. Then you can also spot Rodan in the trailer, an enormous, flying reptile that is basically a pterodactyl who has been irradiated and has a very bad temper. Radioactive dinosaurs are featured pretty heavily in Godzilla's history, mainly because back in the day, the monsters kind of represented different world powers/nuclear problems.

Finally, as far as I can see from the trailer, we got the big badass, King Ghidorah. This thing is like a biological soup, made up of what appears to be a lizard mixed with a giant bat and some kind of hydra. In short, it's a friggin three headed dragon with giant wings, and it is badass. Expect Godzilla to rip off at least one of its heads.

Here's the official synopsis, give the trailer a watch and let me know if you find any other monsters I might have missed in the trailer.

"The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species – thought to be mere myths – rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity's very existence hanging in the balance."

Godzilla: King of the Monsters is scheduled to be released on May 31, 2019.
