I'm always on the lookout for new horror. Pretty much all the time. So when a new scary looking flick pops up, I'm all over it, which brings us to the upcoming sci-fi thriller-horror title, Freaks. Not to be mistaken of the 1930's title of the same name, Freaks concerns a father and daughter, but as usual, things aren't quite as they look on the surface.
Here's the synopsis: "A disturbed father locks his bold 7-year-old daughter in a house, warning her of grave dangers outside. But the mysterious Mr. Snowcone convinces the girl to escape and join him on a quest for family, freedom, and revenge."
Weird, right? The trailer is quite strange as well, and check out the casting; Emile Hirsch plays the father, and badass Bruce Dern is in there as well. In addition to those solid actors, we've got Amanda Crew of Silicon Valley fame and Battlestar Galactica’s Grace Park. Written and directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, these guys admittedly don't have a robust resume; they worked on a show called On the Lot, which was not great, but it was produced by Spielberg, which is something. Since then, they've done a lot of "whatever" tv shows, but hey; you can't diss em just for not being super prolific. Think about Get Out. Yeah. That turned out pretty well.
