Soulcalibur 6 has been steadily adding fighters, but there have been a good amount of retreads and old opponents, which is good in a, "you couldn't have a Street Fighter without Ryu" kind of way. However, the new characters haven't been coming as quickly, and without new blood, what's the point? Well, we just got a new fighter, and he's a freakish looking evil bastard with interdimensional powers; introducing Azwel, the Leader of Humanity.
Now, it's possible that this guy isn't truly bad, just misunderstood, but listen to his lines in the trailer, the brutal way he fights, and what the hell did he just turn into?? My god! His voice is unfortunately kind of weak though, and doesn't really feel true to the character. Then again, when he dandily exclaims, "Take this... my love!" and blasts you with a bunch of weapons, maybe the voice does fit after all. The new trailer below shows how Azwel will be kicking your ass, mainly due to his use of the Palindrome, an invention that allows him to “manifest weapons out of thin air and use vastly different fighting techniques.”
In all, Azwel is just one of the 6 new characters, joining the already announced fighters, Ivy, Taki, Talim, Sophitia, Mitsurugi, Voldo, Zasalamel, Seong Mi-na, Astaroth, Xianghua, Kilik and Nightmare, plus Geralt from The Witcher fame.
Soulcalibur 6 will release on PS4, Windows PC and Xbox One on Oct. 19.
