You hear that music and almost get a chill immediately...
But that said, I have (I thought) long since given up on this franchise. I dislike Rob Zombie, but I still thought his visceral take on the reboot was worth watching, because for once, his dirty, vicious directorial style served the subject material. Then he did the sequel and threw all that good will in the garbage. It was all a dream? Yeah, no one liked that twist when they did it in the 70's... or 80's... or any other time they wasted audiences' time with it.
Similarly, bringing Jaime Curtis back in the past (H20) was terrible, and putting a bunch of "hip teen" actors in there with her was a terrible mistake; she is so much better acting-wise, it was like watching Lebron dunk on a bunch of high schoolers; kind of fun for a little bit, but ultimately boring and unsatisfying. But this new one might just have the answer; dump every movie after Halloween 2, pretend they don't exist, and make a canon Halloween "3" but do it the right way.
Ignoring 10 films is a ballsy move (screw you H20 and Rob Zombie), but not as much when you consider only one or two of those 10 were worth a damn. Danny Mcbride is writing (an odd choice, in my opinion), but just watch the trailer and you'll see that it seems spot on. Director David Gordon Green looks like he knows what he's doing as well, and I'll give him a shot after directing the underrated Joe.
The new Halloween will be released Oct. 19.
