Set in the magical world of Lemuria and inspired by fairy tales, Child of Light exists in a hand-drawn kingdom and rendered with watercolors (take a look at the screenshots below, they're beautiful). Players will assume the role of Aurora, who is on a classic coming-of-age journey, determined to save her lost kingdom and her dying father by recovering the sun, moon and stars which were stolen by the Dark Queen. It doesn't get a whole lot more fairy tale than that.
Featuring classic, turn-based RPG combat and an active-time battle system, players will gather a party, level up and gain skill points to unlock perks for their heroes, plus a deep crafting system where combining gems will upgrade swords, talismans and armor abilities. In addition to solving puzzles and stabbing minions of the Dark Queen, CoL has an interesting if not totally unique feature where each game has a unique gem profile, where gems that are found in one player's game but are rare in another's, which encourages players to make trades.
Players can take this bad boy on the go, exploring the mysterious world complete with strange, fantastical locations and evolving dungeons through the tabletop mode. There's also an Ultimate Edition which contains the full game, plus seven add-on content packs, which include a new quest, unique skills, gems and more.
Child of Light is available on the Switch now.
