I've got some good news for those of you who can't wait to get back to Wakanda. Not that this information should be all that surprising, but according to the Hollywood Reporter's sources, Ryan Coogler is coming back for Black Panther 2, agreeing to write and direct the sequel to the smash hit, Black Panther, from earlier this year.
Obviously, it would behoove Marvel to keep the same creative team that made a pretty good movie and a metric shit-ton of money, but Coogler didn't immediately resign for the sequel, making everybody a little nervous. After making $700 million domestically and over $1.3 billion worldwide, I'm sure Black Panther fans and Marvel executives alike are breathing a sigh of relief.
Black Panther centers on T'Challa, the king of Wakanda, a hidden African country that is home to tons of vibranium, a much sought after metal used in weapons and technology.The movie starred Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, with Michael B Jordan playing the excellent BP villain, Killmonger.
Shooting for Black Panther 2 has not yet begun, and the film is most likely headed for a 2022 release.
