I gotta admit ignorance on this one; I didn't even know they were making a new Toy Story, although I suppose I should have guessed, given that the previous films made money. There's nothing quite like wringing out a beloved property until you've squeezed every last cent from your fanbase, but to Pixar's credit, all of these films have been pretty great so far, and most all of the cast is returning, which always bodes well for a sequel.
In Toy Story 4, the gang is all back in action: Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Annie Potts will reprise their roles as Sheriff Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Bo Peep, with Blake Clark and Kristen Schaal reprising their roles as Slinky and Trixie from Toy Story 3. The rest of the cast members from the previous films (with the exception of Don Rickles, who passed away in 2017) will return to voice their characters as well.
Here's the premise:
Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called “Forky” to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy. Along the way, Woody is reunited with an unexpected old friend.
The film is set to be released on June 21, 2019.
