Those of you who have always wanted to watch an edited version of Deadpool are in luck; Once Upon a Deadpool, a remixed, tamer version of Deadpool 2, is headed our way, just in time for Christmas. Now, it is quite possible that none of these people actually exist, like the fictional masses who want to see a PG-13 rated horror movie, but it is coming our way nonetheless.
The story is told by Ryan Reynolds’ Merc with a Mouth, aka Deadpool, to Fred Savage, who is sitting in his bed, Princess Bride style. He's even wearing the same jersey he was rocking in Princess Bride, although Wade Wilson has him tied to the bed in this one. Reynolds explained why he decided to acquiesce to the studio heads and make a tame version of his film.
“Fox has been asking for a PG-13 basically since the start in 2006,” Reynolds said to Deadline. “I’ve said no since 2006. Now, this one time, I said ‘Yes’ on two conditions. First, a portion of the proceeds had to go to charity. Second, I wanted to kidnap Fred Savage. The second condition took some explaining.”
As for the first requirement, 20th Century Fox is giving $1 from every ticket sold to “Fudge Cancer,” which is actually an organization called 'Fuck Cancer," but, of course, they censored it due to this being a PG-13 version.
Once Upon a Deadpool will arrive in theaters on December 12th.
