Well, here you go, everyone. Wooooo. New trailer. After all the nonsense headlines, like "Is today the day the Avengers trailer is coming?" and "Did the Russo brothers just leak when the new Avengers trailer will be released?" and "What do you think the new trailer will be like?" here it is. I mean, look, I love the Avengers movies, I love the comics, etc., but it's a damn trailer, everyone. It's a commercial. Does everyone get that?
In any event, here ya go, a two minute trailer with everyone standing around talking and Captain America crying, although we do get one cool thing. And no, I'm not going to write "spoilers" here, because it's a commercial for a movie.
About a third of the way through this epic, cinematic masterpiece of a trailer, we see a dark figure with a blade, and those who read New Avengers will know that this is Ronin aka Hawkeye aka Ronin. That's right, Renner is back, after being absent for Avengers 3. Hawkeye was in the same boat as Captain America, Falcon and the rest, basically a fugitive, but we learned in the last flick that he copped a plea and was with his family. Obviously, his being back in action does not bode well for his family.
The Ronin persona (and costume), is an identity first assumed by Maya Lopez, a deaf woman with photographic reflexes and an ex-lover of Moon Knight and Daredevil, among others. Maya originally became Ronin to investigate the Silver Samurai in Wakanda, but she was eventually killed in a team up with Moon Knight.
New Avengers writer Brian Michael Bendis has said in the past that he initially was going to make Ronin turn out to be Daredevil, but couldn't, due to a conflict with the plans for the character in the Daredevil comic book title. After the superhero registration act (in the comics) Clint Barton becomes Ronin when he joins the New Avengers in the aftermath of the Civil War, since he was forced to ditch his Hawkeye persona.
Here is your precious trailer everyone. No action, lots of talking, mainly people saying things like "I can't believe Thanos did the thing we all saw him do in the movie.... he did what he said he would do... I can't believe it... what do we do about what he did...?"
Avengers 4 is in theaters April 26, 2019
