There have been a lot of rumors swirling around this latest and perhaps last X-Men film and unfortunately most of it has been negative. Sure, there will inevitably be more X-Men films after this, but this might be the end of the current "X-Men universe" as we know it, with many new characters and actors to enter the franchise after this film.
In Dark Phoenix, the X-Men face their most powerful foe, which happens to be Jean Grey, telepath and soon to be host of an alien entity. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force (spoiler alert: it's the Phoenix force). Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but mad unstable. As Jean tries to fight the force inside of her, she unleashes her powers in new, unpredictable ways and just saying, there's a funeral in the trailer, and the X-Men are all crybabying, so you can expect at least one of the X-Men to die (I hope it's Mystique, her character sucks). With the X family falling apart, they have to come together to try and 1) not die, 2) save Jean and 3) save the planet from aliens who wish to weaponize the Phoenix force and rule the galaxy.
We'll wait and see if this film is decent, although we have some doubts here at the office. Is it just us, or does it seem like a long time since we've had a really good X-flick? Check out the trailer below, Dark Phoenix is scheduled for release in the United States on June 7, 2019
