Child's Play is getting the inevitable reboot treatment, where they are ditching the whole voodoo angle and making Chucky some kind of rogue AI to explain why a doll is capable of stabbing everyone to death. He is part of a security system hooked to the ol interwebs, with a physical body, which of course is the Buddy doll from the films. Now, this plot may not excite everyone, but there is a definite high point here: Mark Hamil, aka Luke Skywalker, aka the voice of the animated Joker, is doing the voice of Chucky.
Here's the official synopsis:
"The story follows a mother named Karen (Aubrey Plaza) who gives her son Andy (Gabriel Bateman) a toy doll, Chucky (Mark Hamill), though both aren't aware of its evil nature."
Ok, sure, that's not a lot of plot, but it's a movie about a doll who kills people, so you shouldn't need a ton of plot anyways.
Child's Play, written by Tyler Burton Smith and directed by Lars Klevberg. releases on June 21st.
