I've been a fan of the character since back in the day, so we've been keeping an eye on the show, even with the recent reports of trouble on the set. Despite cutting the season short by one episode (which, to be fair, is the same thing they did to Tians, another show on the DC Streaming service), it is still coming our way, and the first season has officially wrapped.
Swamp Thing's most accepted (and popular) origin surrounds Alec Holland, a scientist working in the Louisiana swamps on a secret bio-restorative formula "that can make forests out of deserts". Holland is killed by a bomb planted by agents of Mr. E (Nathan Ellery), who wants the formula for himself and is all pissy he can't have it. Alec is sprayed with chemicals and dives into a nearby swamp, where he fuses with the mossy goodness and becomes the Swamp Thing. Alan Moore later changed this up a bit by having Swamp Thing become and elemental avatar of the parliament of the trees.

“Swamp Thing” centers on CDC researcher Abby Arcane (Reed).
