The four prints were chosen from entries to the OneSpecialGame competition which invited artists, illustrators and fans from all over the world to submit designs based on the four games. Judged by a panel of games industry professionals, it was graphic designer Nico Vliek's 'Monument Valley' piece that walked away with the main prize.
Grand prizewinner Nico received a Wacom Cintiq 16' tablet as a prize provided by Escape Technology. Nico said "I am thrilled by the result of the OneSpecialGame competition. SpecialEffect is a charity that means a lot to me, as I believe that games should be accessible to all people. Having seen the fantastic work with projects like the Xbox Adaptive Controller or the many other creative solutions for people with disabilities warms my heart, but also demonstrates how important this all is."
Runners up included professional artist Drake Tsui (Mass Effect), games fan Galih Kresnawan (Need For Speed) and illustration student Phoebe Reynolds (Stardew Valley).
The industry panel that judged the competition included representation from most of the studios involved as well as artists and illustrators. Industry art legend, Double Fine's Lee Petty, said "Video Games were a powerful inspiration for me growing up, unlocking a sense of wonder and imagination. I love SpecialEffect's mission to bring games to players who otherwise might not have the opportunity to experience those worlds and wanted to be involved."
