Gaijin Entertainment reveals the details of the virtual environment called Warfare-2077 that is used to model the actions and tactics of promising ground and air war machines in hypothetical future conflicts. It's the World Premiere of the product that is being developed in cooperation with Defense Departments from several leading military powers and have already been thoroughly tested by military professionals from across the world. Today marks the start of the very first public playtest of Warfare-2077. Access to the War Thunder online game client is all players require in order to participate in this activity.
According to the training scenario, the year is 2077 and an asteroid is going to destroy all life on the planet very soon. A space launch pad in Arizona is the only chance to save at least part of the population. All nations forget about their pacts and allies and promptly advance to gain control of this object.
Players use ground and air war machines that are relevant to the second half of the XXI century, like the Minotaur MBT. It features a 140mm gun with composite barrel bore, an uncrewed turret, high-precision kinetic ammunition and missile weaponry, as well as an optical camouflage system that works both in the visible and infrared spectrums. Its unique complex of active protection is capable of detecting and destroying most types of weapons at distance, including kinetic armor-piercing projectiles and airborne guided weapons.
The Hydra missile tank does not have similarly powerful protection, but provides a unique ability to engage targets from cover, including without direct visual contact with the enemy, using 75 vertical launch missiles. To detect and lock onto targets outside of direct visual contact, the missile tank is equipped with a retractable periscope with a complex of digital-optical equipment, as well as an installation for launching "Gryphon" series reconnaissance and attack drones. The passive protection in the Hydra tank provides all-round protection and protection in the upper hemisphere from single hits of cumulative ammunition and missiles.
Players can also use the Harpy universal air and missile defense complex, the Wyvern heavy attack drone with modular weapon systems (it can be configured to perform the combat missions of a fighter-interceptor, attack aircraft or fighter-bomber), and the Gryphon-3 reconnaissance drone that could also be used as a loitering munition.
The Warfare 2077 public playtest will last for a few days until enough data about the vehicles performance in the training scenario is collected.
