NEXT GENERATION PC STORE ULTRA GAMES LAUNCHES TO SHAKE UP DIGITAL GAME DISTRIBUTION
TALLINN, ESTONIA - 5 APRIL, 2023 - Ultra, a complete PC video gaming platform created by AAA games industry talent from companies like Ubisoft, Wargaming, Playstation and Nintendo, today proudly announces the launch of Ultra Games, a true next generation PC games store created to challenge the status quo in game distribution.
The Ultra Games store will be accessible globally from the 25th April 2023 at 16:00 UTC and can be downloaded here for PC, with launch titles including - among many others - Lords of the Fallen, The Walking Dead Definitive Series, WRC7, the Syberia series, and the Beholder series. Ultra Games has been rigorously beta tested with a passionate community of more than 1,000 gamers worldwide.
Ultra Games aims to solve existing challenges in PC gaming with a more contemporary and intuitive approach to discoverability and community management for games of all sizes, while offering a fairer revenue split for developers and publishers. Encompassing a modern storefront, curated library and powerful launcher, Ultra Games offers an extensive and growing catalogue from leading publishers and developers including Nacon, Plug In Digital, Skybound, Microids, Graffiti Games, and Fulqrum, while tech partners include AMD and Ubisoft.
For PC gamers, Ultra Games will offer a number of pioneering features such as opportunities to resell games from their digital library with the permission of the developer, and a referral system that gives players a percentage of their friends’ game purchases. Game developers and publishers can choose whether or not to activate these blockchain-enabled features for their titles, and set parameters that work for both their business and their community. Their goal is to bring gamers and developers closer together in vibrant communities, by opening direct channels of communication between both camps. Key initiatives include feedback and community management features, and events such as competitive tournaments on the Ultra Arena platform.
Nicolas Gilot, Co-CEO at Ultra, commented:
"The PC gaming distribution market is running out of steam and ripe for disruption. Yes, the leading legacy platforms have been incredibly successful to date, but we believe there’s much room for improvement for gamers, devs and pubs. We explicitly engineered Ultra Games to address critical issues such as high fees for developers and lack of real, flexible game ownership for players. This is still only the beginning for us but, by addressing these issues, we want to help create more meaningful, more transparent relationships between communities. I can’t wait to see this vision start to come to fruition after five years of development and listening to the needs of developers and players.”
Yves Bléhaut, SVP, Strategic Partnerships at Microids, added:
"We are delighted to be a part of the Ultra Games launch, offering our cherished titles to an enthusiastic gaming community. The Ultra Games store provides a distinctive opportunity for fans to explore and experience our games, and we can't wait to witness what the future holds in partnership with Ultra.”
