CHINESE INDIE GAME PUBLISHER GAMERA GAMES ANNOUNCES 16 GAMES AT THE TOKYO GAME SHOW 2023
Chinese indie game publisher Gamera Games just celebrated a press event at the Tokyo Games Show 2023, an event the publisher is attending for the fourth time in a row. The keynote, dubbed Gamera Games Now Tokyo Game Show 2023 Special Program, has featured 16 titles -- including news from bestsellers such as Dyson Sphere Program and Volcano Princess, and future releases such as The Awakener: Forgotten Oath. Dyson Sphere Program has announced a major free update, Rise of the Darkfog, that will be released this December. A new promotional video and an 8-minute gameplay demo have been revealed, giving an in-depth look at the Rise of the Darkfog update. Zhou Xun, the game's Producer, introduced the new mechanics (such as the Supernova mode, planetary shields, and automatic reconstruction technologies). That's not all regarding Dyson Sphere Program, though. Youthcat Studio has also unveiled its plans for future updates hinting at the appearance of space combat mechanics, construction of space stations, the possibility to deploy your fleet against dangerous Darkfog nests, and ultimate weapons.
Afterdream is a 2D psychological horror game developed by Finnish independent developer Jesse Makkonen. A new trailer for the game has been released before its release date (September 28th). Players will dive into a lucid dream that blurs the lines between reality and fiction while using their camera to interact with ghosts and solve puzzles.
Garlant: My Story, developed by Flt Studio, is a role-playing game that combines multiple elements including roguelike mechanics, combat, management, farming, and social simulation. The game is planned for release in the Q4 2023 and will be available on the Nintendo Switch and Steam.
Developed by 42Teaparty, Just a chest is a story-driven JRPG that offers a unique perspective by featuring a treasure chest as the main character. Set on a unique adventure with three companions in a convention-breaking original story, just a Chest will be released on Steam and Nintendo Switch, and will support multiple languages, including Chinese, Japanese, and English.
Abyss Fantasia is a hand-drawn style fantasy adventure RPG published by Gamera Games; the game was unveiled for the first time at this TGS event. Inspired by works such as Made in Abyss and Ruina: A Tale of a Ruined City, players will take on the role of a young girl named Yugari, set on an adventure in a massive hole known as the "Abyss" located in the center of the continent. Enjoy the Abyss's bizarre landscapes while exploring this special and unknown fantasy world.
Created by the Japanese indie developer Yatsunagi, Homicipher, a text-based horror adventure game with romantic elements, has already caught the players's attention since its free demo Homicipher: Prologue was released last June. Gamera Game revealed a new trailer for the game during this year's Tokyo Game Show, and has also added the game's first chapter to Homicipher: Prologue for free. Players can now experience the prologue with new characters and numerous other updates.
Candlelight: Lament is a narrative-driven adventure game based on the Cthulhu myth, featuring a unique 2D black and white hand-drawn art style to help create an eerie atmosphere. Players will investigate the mysterious disappearance of the main character's granddaughter, though the truth might be more terrible than you initially thought. A free demo of Candlelight: Lament is already available on Steam.
Developed by Egg Hatcher Studio, Volcano Princess has sold 600,000 copies in just two months since its release. As announced today in the Gamera Games Now Tokyo Game Show 2023 Special Program, the game will soon be ported to Nintendo Switch. Additionally, the Official Art Collection has been released on Steam as a free DLC. It contains a wealth of content, including 100 game CGs, 20 screenshots of the game's early version, and 12 images that can be used for homemade NPC student IDs. All players who purchased the game can download this DLC for free!
The classic turn-based RPG Xuan-Yuan Sword: Mists Beyond Mountains by SOFTSTAR ENTERTAINMENT and DOMO Studio will be released on Nintendo Switch in the fourth quarter of 2023. The game will support Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, English, and Japanese. Compared to the original version, the game has been fully optimized and includes a new chapter, which was first introduced in the smartphone version, that explores the adventures of Seto and his companions in the Tang dynasty.
Developed by Ultra Piggy Studio, the roguelike card game DiceOMancer was unveiled for the first time today. Originally known as Dice Is The Way, DiceOMancer participated in the GMTK Game Jam 2022 and made it to the top 20 games, out of over 6,000 submissions. The striking game's unique art style brings a fresh experience through its hand-drawn battle animations and original dice mechanics.
Developed by Stove Studio, Warriors of the Nile 2, a fast-paced tactical board game combining roguelike and strategy elements, has officially debuted on Nintendo Switch today. This version adds all the features already present on Steam, such as the Final Battle 1.2 version. Warriors of the Nile 2 has a cast of 21 heroes, including transforming characters, that can be unlocked during gameplay. All the heroes from the original Warriors of the Nile, such as the Desert Hunter, the Fierce Sun Warrior, and the Hidden Light Mage, have returned.
The Awakener: Forgotten Oath, a fantasy-style 3D action roguelike by Taner Game will be released on Steam on October 18th. Experience an intuitive and dynamic third-person combat system as The Awakener, a character chosen by the Twelve Gods of Thrayled. The Awakener: Forgotten Oath will have a 7-day limited free demo on Steam, and all players can download and try it for free during this period.
