DYSON SPHERE PROGRAM ANNOUNCES A FREE, MAJOR UPDATE 'RISE OF THE DARK FOG', AVAILABLE THIS DECEMBER
Today during the "Gamera Games Now Tokyo Game Show 2023 Special Program", Gamera Games and Youthcat Studio have released a gameplay trailer for the highly-anticipated, large-scale, free update to Dyson Sphere Program, titled Rise of the Dark Fog. The studio has announced that this update will officially be released in December 2023. You can watch the trailer below.
RISE OF THE DARKFOG'S NEW FEATURES
The "Rise of the Dark Fog" update introduces a pivotal battle system to the game. After years of building machines to meet their growing needs for energy, Humankind found that the universe is now full of self-aware machines with combat capabilities that have turned against their masters in their quest to secure never-ending and reliable energy sources. Humans now call this threat the Dark Fog, a reckless enemy that players will encounter upon reaching a certain level, when the Dark Fog will initiate attacks on Icarus. Players will need to build defensive structures to protect their planetary production lines from destruction. In the trailer above, producer Zhou Xun elaborates on the key points of this major update.
- EXPLOSIONS AND SPECTACULAR FIREWORKS
The Dark Fog expands in response to the player's progress. But players need to be ready. If their number of defense towers is insufficient when hordes of enemies invade, their defensive lines will quickly be overrun. To deal with such crises, players can activate the Supernova mode, which increases the firing rate of defensive towers by up to 25 times, applying intense pressure on the enemy and helping overcome challenging situations. During Supernova mode, different facilities will also show unique special effects. When all these defense systems are fired simultaneously, players will get to enjoy a large-scale fireworks display!
- PLANETARY PROTECTION SHIELD
The Dark Fog will not only deploy combat aircraft to destroy factories at close range. Other fleets, dubbed Gunriders, will also be dispatched from cosmic nests within the Dark Fog. These can deliver devastating blows to ground structures from far-off cosmic distances. To counter these threats, players will have to deploy a planetary shield that offers maximum protection to all facilities on the planet.
- DAMAGE AND RECONSTRUCTION
The Rise of the Dark Fog update features post-battle damage effects for most structures that enhance the intensity of the combat experience. Even if defenses fail and multiple production lines are destroyed, players don't have to panic about potentially losing the work of hours, or even days. By upgrading the Auto-Rebuild technology, and provided they have sufficient items, drones will automatically reconstruct the destroyed buildings, which will gradually return to normal operating conditions after reconstruction.
- AN OPTIMIZATION UPDATE
Dyson Sphere Program is a game praised for its optimization, and Rise of the Dark Fog aims to continue this trend. The demo has confirmed that the game performs stably during intense combat scenarios, even on PCs with lower specifications.
Youthcat Studio will continue to evolve Dyson Sphere Program combat mechanics. While Rise of the Dark Fog focuses on factory defenses, balancing development and defensive construction, the studio aims to allow players to actively venture into space combat, building space stations and deploying fleets to combat the perilous Dark Fog nests during 2024. Furthermore, ultimate weapons are also planned for future updates. Players can expect more information about the Rise of the Dark Fog update before its December 2023 release. Dyson Sphere Program is currently on sale at discounted prices on the Steam and WeGame platforms.
