Denver, USA – October 25th, 2023 - Versus Evil, one of the leading independent video game publishers, are showcasing their upcoming line-up by announcing that two of their games are featured as part of the Indie X livestream. Today viewers of the livestream are getting a sneak peek at the post-apocalyptic isometric RPG Broken Roads and the whimsical narrative deduction game Lil' Guardsman, ahead of the release of both titles later this year.
The Indie X showcase runs every year, and features many of the most exciting upcoming indie titles on its livestream. This year, the show is bigger than ever before, as Indie X is partnering with DevGAMM, one of the largest video games B2B events in the world. Indie X is split into multiple sections, with an international games showcase, panel and Steam sale supporting the initial livestream. Each game shown will also have a chance to be featured as one of Indie X's finalists, giving those titles a further spotlight.
Broken Roads is a narrative-driven RPG that brings exploration, strategic turn-based combat and meaningful philosophical choices to an all-new Australian post-apocalyptic setting. Broken Roads skillfully blends traditional and all-new role-playing elements on top of a classless system offering near-unlimited character development options built around four philosophies: Humanist, Utilitarian, Machiavellian, and Nihilist. Furthermore the game presents players with an original morality system: the Moral Compass which sees dialogue options and questing decisions influence, and be influenced by, a character's philosophical leaning and the tough decisions they make along the way.
Lil' Guardsman is a narrative deduction game, inspired by the classic point-and-click genre and the mechanics of Papers, Please. Set in a high-fantasy world with the comedic sensibility of Monkey Island and other 90s Lucasarts adventure classics, Lil regularly finds herself covering for her dad, the head castle guardsman, as she interrogates an array of fun and weird characters trying to gain entry to their city walls. Consequences can be severe in this narrative-driven experience, and clever use of your abilities can help you uncover mass conspiracies and protect your castle and family from devious interlopers.
