Developer and publisher Tripwire Interactive today launched the second season of new content and rewards for Killing Floor 3, which released worldwide on July 24, 2025 for PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), the PlayStation®5 system, and the Xbox Series X|S console systems. Available now for all platforms, "Operation: Breakout" takes Nightfall Operatives deep into the dark and dangerous jungles of Costa Rica where an unseen enemy has escaped its former imprisonment, introducing the stealthy Stalker Zed to the game alongside the first new map, Prison. Operatives get some backup of their own with the addition of fan-favorite, DJ Scully, joining as a playable specialist and a deadly new primary weapon, the KV Recluse SMG. The seasonal update also includes a new Supply Pass with 100 levels of free and paid cosmetic rewards, new daily challenges, weekly mutators and ongoing work to address bugs, performance optimizations, and quality-of-life feedback.
To celebrate the release of "Operation: Breakout", Tripwire has announced a sale on Steam featuring a 33% off discount on all three editions of the game. Players can visit Killing Floor 3's social media channels for news about console sales promotions coming shortly.
Killing Floor 3 "Operation: Breakout" content Includes:
- Narrative Missions - 'Operation: Breakout': With Dr. Emmanuel Moorcroft's threat intensifying beyond Nightfall's capabilities, Cordelia decides to expand their ranks, sending the team to Horzine Blacksite to find a veteran of the original outbreak, but their efforts are soon thwarted by Moorcroft. After rescuing the mercenary, Nightfall must scramble to block Moorcroft's alarming consolidation of power.
- Players will take on ten new missions taking place across the new Prison and familiar maps. Completing all ten missions will unlock exclusive player cards, character skins, weapon stickers, and XP Rewards.
- Operation: Breakout is selectable via the Assignments: Mission tab. Players can toggle between active incomplete Operations to progress them in any order.
- Survival Map - Prison: Hidden deep within the jungles of Costa Rica, the once-abandoned cryo-prison still holds nightmares aplenty. Operatives will battle Zeds from the forested exterior walls into the depths below, where a small army has awoken due to a power outage. The Prison is filled with interactive elements to fuel replayability, just be mindful of the gruesome remnants of its past inhabitants.
- Specialist - DJ Scully: Somehow, DJ Scully has returned! Everyone's favorite, loveable Dutch DJ brings his quick wits, clever quips, and possibly ex-special forces training to the fight against Horzine. Play DJ Scully as any Perk, and bring a little bit of his lighthearted charm to the future.
- Zed - Stalker: Officially designated Specimen WYR-05, the latest iteration of Horzine's Stalker remains a deadly foe with stealth capabilities. This generation of Stalkers has been programmed to hunt down lone Operatives that have separated from the group, so stick together. Savvy Specialists can utilize tools to reveal the Stalker while cloaked, including the Pulse Lure, Sonar Sight Mod, UV Light Underbarrel Mod and the Commando Perk Passive Ability.
