Rare Replay (Xbox One)

Anyone who ever had a NES or an N64 has probably run across the developer Rare at some point or another. Rare is celebrating their 30th anniversary this year, and on this happy occasion, they’ve released a total of 30 classic games on one disc, including hits like Battletoads, Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie, Conker’s Bad Fur Day, and Kameo: Elements of Power, among several others. Below, we’re going to have a look at the list of games in detail.

After inserting the disc into your Xbox One, you have to install all the games. This isn’t exactly anything new, and Xbox One owners should be used to it by now, though this collection takes a bit longer than usual. And you’re going to have to actually download some of the games, effectively making them a no-go for people with slower Internet connections. With a download rate of about 3 MB/s, it still seemed to take an hour or two to get everything installed. How long it actually took is anyone’s guess, since I wasn’t actually keeping track.

The long wait time is sweetened up a bit by an awesome musical intro video, which you can check out here. Then you’re at the main menu screen, where the games are arranged by name and year of release. Rare Replay includes the following titles:

1983 – Atic Atac – ZX Spectrum / BBC Micro

Summary

A great collection for a great price. At $29.99, that’s just one dollar per game! If you don’t have your old consoles anymore, or you’ve never played these titles before, you should definitely check Rare Replay out. I myself am a huge fan of Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie, though I’m not all that impressed with the newer title, Nuts & Bolts. But that’s just a matter of taste, really. Lots of you have probably also played Perfect Dark and Conker’s Bad Fur Day. And if you’re looking for something harder, or you just enjoy getting frustrated so much you want to throw the controller against the wall, then check out Battletoads.
