Rugby 20

PC, PS4, XBOX ONE

Eko Software is a French development studio founded in 1999. They specialize in many platforms such as PC, PS2/3, Wii, DS/3DS, Xbox 360/ONE, PSP, Smart TV Samsung, and iOS. Probably the most famous games of the developers are "The Garfield Show: Threat of the Space Lasagna", "How to Survive 1 and 2" and "Handball 17", as well as "Rugby 18".

Origin of rugby:

William Webb Ellis was a footballer, his team was threatened with defeat in 1823, he decided to take the ball in his hand and put it in the opponent's goal. Although the ball was taken into the hands before, he was considered the inventor of rugby, which is why the Rugby World Cup still bears his name. In 1871, the first international match between Scotland and England took place in Edinburgh. Rugby had so much success that American football and Canadian football later evolved from rugby.

Gameplay:

In Rugby 20 we play various rugby matches as we wishes and we can choose between numerous teams and nations. Not all teams are licensed because it may have several other publishers who have purchased the licenses for certain teams, gamers who like Sport Games already know this from Games like FIFA and PES. There are different game modes in Rugby 20 such as Quick Match and League. You can also create your own team or simply have an online party against other players.

Training:

Rugby 20 has a training mode that explains the rules of the game a little bit, so you get help in various points on how to start, unfortunately there is no training where you can practice a whole match, so getting started isn't that easy for players who have never played a rugby game before. If you've already played Rugby Challenge 2 or Rugby 18, you're going to get on with the controls pretty quickly.

Music and Graphics:

The music in the menu is well chosen, the fans form a good atmosphere during the games, there are both cheers and boos. The graphics are not up-to-date, but they don't really have to hide. The players look good, the commentators sound much better than at FIFA and PES and the animations are good, I like how they show the players entering the pitch before each game.

Summary

Rugby 20 is a solid and good rugby game, it's not quite as good as Rugby Challenge 2, probably the best rugby game you could buy on the market, but it's also a lot of fun. If you don't mind a slightly outdated graphic and put a lot of emphasis on the feeling of playing, you can spend a lot of fun playing hours with Rugby 20.

The Steam version supports some game features such as "Remote Play Together" and "Remote Play on TV". Due to the different difficulty levels, even beginners can enjoy the game, but you should urgently have a controller. With keyboard and/or mouse on PC, the game is playable, but not fun.
