I. OVERALL AND CHARACTER PLOT
-----------------------------
GORO LIVES...
A 2,000 year old half-human dragon, Goro remains undefeated for the
pasgt five hundred years. He won the title of Grand Champion by defeating
Kung Lao, a Shaolin fighting monk. It was during this period that the
tournament fell into Shang Tsung's hands and was corrupted.
Johnny Cage
-----------
A martial arts superstar stainged by great masters from around the
world. Cage uses his skills on the big screen. He is the current box
office champ and star of such films as Dragon Fist and Dragon Fist II as
well as the award winning Sudden Violence.
Kano
----
A mercanary, thug, extortionist theif - Kano loves a life of crime and
injustice. He is a devoted member of the Black Dragon, a dangerous group
of cut-throat madmen feared and respected throughout all of crime's inner
circles.
Raiden
------
The name Raiden is actually that of a deity known as the Thunder God.
It is rumored he received a personal invitation by Shang Tsung himself
and took form of a human to compete in the tournament.
Liu Kang
--------
Once a member of the super secret White Lotus Society. Liu Kang left
the organization in order to represent Shaolin temples in the tournament.
He is stong in his beliefs and despises Shang Tsung.
Scorpion
--------
Like Sub-Zero, Scorpion's true name and origin are unknown. He has
hown distrust and hatred towards Sub-Zero. Between ninjas, this is
usually the sign of opposing clans.
Sub-Zero
--------
The actual name or indentity of this warrior is unknown. However,
based on the markings on his uniform, it is believed he belongs to the Lin
Kuei, a legendary clan of Chinese ninja.
Sonya Blade
-----------
Sonya is a member of a top U.S. special forces unit. Her team was
hot on the trail of Kano's Black Dragon organization. They followed them
to an uncharted island where they were ambushed by Shang Tsung's personal
army.
II. BASIC MOVES

Face Punch: HIGH PUNCH
Body Punch: LOW PUNCH
Face Kick : HIGH KICK
Body Kick : LOW KICK
Block : BLOCK
Jump Kick : Jump + either KICK button.
Jump Punch : Jump + either PUNCH button.
Hop Kick : Up + either KICK button.
Hop Punch : Up + either PUNCH button.
Uppercut : Down + either PUNCH button.
Foot Sweep : Back + LOW KICK
Roundhouse : Back + HIGH KICK
Low Kick : Down + LOW KICK
Throw Opponent: Forward + LOW PUNCH
Avoid Throw : BLOCK + diagonally down + away
Death Punch : Standing punch when opponenet is jumping into you.
scoring depends on damage.

The following is a score and tamage table for the moves in Mortal
Kombat. They will follow this procedure:
Lightening : Quarter-circle towards - LOW PUNCH : 2000 (14.8%)
Teleport : Down - up(flick joystick down) : 0 (0%)
Body Launch: Back - back - forward : 5000 (18%)
Fatality: Forward - back - back - back - HIGH PUNCH
(Raiden shoots lightening into his oppnent's head, causing it to
explode. Stand in sweep distance.)
Liu Kang
--------
Uppercut : Excellent
Jump Kick : Poor
Roundhouse : Fast
Spear : Back - back - LOW PUNCH : 2000 (4.6%)
Teleport Punch: Half-circle away - HIGH PUNCH : 2000 (18%)
Fatality: Hold BLOCK - up - up
(Scorpion removes his mask to reveal a skull. He then breathes
fire on his opponent, turning them into a skeleton. Stand in
sweep distance.)
Fatality: Forward - down - forward - HIGH PUNCH
(Sub-Zero grabs his opponent by the neck and pulls their head off,
taking their spine along with the head. Stand close.)
Energy Throw : Back - back - LOW PUNCH : 2000 (14.8%)
Teleport Punch: Forward - forward - back - HIGH PUNCH : 2000 (16.4%)
Leg Scissors : Down - LOW PUNCH + BLOCK + LOW KICK : 2000 (24.2%)
Fatality: Forward - forward - back - back - BLOCK
(Sonya blows an energy ball in the air. The ball hits her opponent
and engulfs them in flames, turning the opponent into a
skeleton. Stand outside sweep distance.)
V. REPTILE
----------
Ah yes! The elusive green ninja that only a handful of people have
seen. Who is he, and how do you fight him. Well, you can find out who he
is on MKII, can't you? As for how you fight him, well, that's a bit more
difficult.
First, you must be on the Pit stage. Then, at the beginning, just
before you fight your opponent, you must see something fly in front of the
moon (i.e. Santa Claus, the wicked witch, etc.). It depends on your
machine, meaning something can fly in front of the moon EVERY time you
play on the Pit, or you will have a one-in-forty chance. Then, you must
defeat your opponent with a double flawless and a fatality WITHOUT using
the BLOCK button (NOTE: It is not considered a fatlity if you knock them
into the spikes at the bottom of the pit, with the exception of Liu Kang's
fatality). Because of the inability to use the BLOCK button, you cannot
fight Reptile with Sonya or Scorpion (NOTE: You are allowed to use
the block button in version 4.0). If you complete all this, you will be
transported to the bottom of the pit where Reptile awaits. If you
defeat him and perform a fatality, you will be awarded 10,000,000 points!
(NOTE: Reptile is only on v3.0 and 4.0 of MK)
In Version 4.0 of Mortal Kombat, Reptile will sometimes pop down
before a match begins and give a clue on how to find him.

VI. COMBINATION MOVES

Johnny Cage
-----------
1. Jump Kick - Shadow Kick
Jump kick your opponent below the waist and perform the shadow kick.
2. Jump Kick - Jump Punch
Jump Kick your opponent below the waist in the corner and quickly
jump punch into your opponent. If done right, you can continue to jump
ounch your opponent until his energy runs out.
Kano
----
1. Jump Kick - Spin Attack
Jump kick your opponent below the waist and quickly perform the spen
attack. Spin the joystick as soon as you connect with the jump kick
Raiden
------
1. Jump Kick - Body Launch
Jump kick your opponent then perform the body launch
Liu Kang
--------
1. Jump Kick - Flying Kick
Jump kick you opponent below the waist and do the flying kick. Start
the two forward motion as you are kicking.
2. Jump Kick - Fireball
Same as #1, except throw the fireball.
Scorpion
--------
1. Spear - Uppercut
Spear the opponent, then uppercut them when you pull them back
2. Jump Kick - Teleport Punch - Spear - Uppercut
Jump kick into the opponent when they are in mid air. As soon as you
connect, do the teleport punch. If done right, you will have just enough
time to hit them with the spear and uppercut them.
Sub-Zero
--------
1. Jump Kick - Slide
Jump kick your opponent below the waist and quickly slide into them.
Sonya Blade
-----------
1. Leg Scissors - Energy Throw
Grab your opponent in the leg scissors. When you throw them, quickly
perform the energy throw. The opponent will not have enough time to block.
VII. ENDING STORIES
--------------------
NOTE: If you don't like spoiler information and would rather play
the game to the end to see the character's ending story for
yourself....THEN FOR PETE'S SAKE DON'T READ THIS SECTION!!!! Get rid of
it! It makes good kindling. Use it for a dish-rag. Spakle the den with
it. Marginize your shorts with it. JUST DON'T READ IT!
Johnny Cage

(Played by Daniel Pesina)
Through the battles and life or death situations faced during the
tournament, Johnny Cage learns the true importance of his fighting skills. He
also realizes the full potential of the tournament. He returns to Hollywood
after defending his new title as Grand Champion. Cage goes on to film
Mortal Kombat: The Movie and its many sequels.
Kano
----
(Played by Richard Divizio)
With the defeat of Shang Tsung, Kano will bring his own brand of treachery
to the tournament. His Black Dragon organization forms a monopoly over
the contest...that brings shame and torment to all those involved. Their reign
will end in ararchy and death. It will result in the final dismantling of the
tournament and the battle of the sans.
Raiden
------
(Played by Carlos Pesina)
Raiden's victory comes as no suprise to him. He was never impressed
by Shang Tsung's inferior sorcery, Goro's brute force, or the challenge of
the other contestants. He quickly becomes bored with his mortal
competition and soon invites other gods to participate in the
contest. The ensuing battles rage on for years, and the wars result in
our world's final destruction. Have a nice day.
Liu Kang
--------
(Played by Ho Sung Pak)
After defeating mighty Goro and putting an end to Shang Tsung's
rule over the tournament, Kang is able to return the contest to its
rightful hosts - The Shaolin Temples. Kang's heroics will always be
remembered. He will continue the traditions of the Shaolin temples
and restore the true pride and respect of this once great tournament.
Scorpion
--------
(Played by Daniel Pesina)
Marked for death years ago by the Lin Kuei, Scorpion was murdered
by Sub-Zero. He left behind a wife and child in his former life but was
allowed to return and avenge his death. Even with Scorpion's triumph
in the tournament and new title as Grand Champion, the price he paid
was high. He can never again know his family and must exist forever
with his secret curse.
Sub-Zero
--------
(Played by Daniel Pesina)
After receiving the title of Grand Champion, Sub-Zero disappears
back into the shadows from which he came. His only goal in the
tournament was...the assassination of Shang Tsung. He was paid a
large sum of money by one of Tsung's wealthy enemies. His mission
accomplished, Sub-Zero will collect his fortune and retire from his
dangerous profession.
Sonya
-----
(Played by Elizabath Malecki)
Captured by Shang Tsung, Sonya's Special Forces unit was taken
hostage - Their only hope was the tournament. Shang Tsung promised
to release the entire team...only if Sonya could win the tournament.
Her victory not only released her unit, but also put an end to the Black
Dragon and Shang Tsung's powerful grip on the tournament.
Goro
