Marvel vs. Street Fighter is rightfully considered one of the best fighting

+ Dingo Jellybean:
Dingo has been an inspiration to all of us, or most of us anyway, there is
always an exception to the rule. He is most likely the largest contributor ever
to GameFAQs if you count reviews and FAQs together. He is a great friend, and
is very interesting to talk to. He is the webmaster of Vfaqs.net, a great site
which you should take a look at, he even let me do a rant for his site! Well,
when it comes to fighting games, check out his MvC FAQ for PSX, that is about
as good as they come! He is responsible for all of the biography information I
have on Chun-Li, and he was kind enough to let me use it in this FAQ.

Email: not sure he would want it up - I'll check into that.
Website: http://www.Vfaqs.net

+ Jeff Veasey:
Also known as CJC, he is the webmaster and maintainer of GameFAQs.com. he is
usually busy doing something new to the site, but he is also a very good
writer, over 1 MB of work on his behalf, and all of it is great. He actually
has a great FAQ for the Dreamcast version of this game, so be sure to check
that out. We cannot thank him enough for allowing us to show all of our work to
the world.

+ People of Capcom:
Just wanted to thank all of the people who designed and made this great
fighting game. They have delivered blockbuster fighting game hit after one and
other for years now, and I think we have all become spoiled because of their
great games, so we just expect them to be that great all the time, keep it up
guys!

+ Matt Hulbert:
Not much to say here, I compiled all of the information and typed it. I would
like to ask you if you have not already to check out my new website, and hope
you enjoy and can really use the information within this FAQ.

This FAQ was created so that you could master the Character Chun-Li. If you are
looking for anything on a character other than her, it will not be found in
this FAQ, so go check out Dingo Jellybean's great FAQ/Movelist. This is only
like my 7th character guide, so I am not perfect, but please just bear with me,
I will be updating this FAQ quite frequently, so I will usually end up
correcting myself if I discover something is wrong. Here is the basic layout
for the FAQ, the strategy s the most important part so it will be updated more
than the other sections. Ok, so now onto the FAQ.

- About Chun-Li

- Fighting Game Strategy

1.) About Chun-Li
-----------------
Her past history is shrouded with tragedy. Her father was killed when she was
at a very young age and she has been consumed with vengence ever since. After
her close defeat at the hands of M.Bison she has seeked help and joined
Interpol, a secret organization set out to counter the crime and acts of
Shadowloo. M.Bison now seeks world domination and with the loss of Charlie
Chun-Li now seeks out the evil empire of Shaowloo and swears revenge on the
corporate leader M.Bison.
She is a very vicious figter, but does over step her bounds when she challenges
Bison, in the Street Fighter Movie, then Guile has to step in and clean up her
mess, and I think they have a little thing goin on anyways. With Charlie turned
into Blanka, she is devastated, but still cannot win the battle alone.

3.) Strategy
------------

Against:
*******

Bison:
Bison, your archest of arch nemesis' so how will you fair against him? Well in
all honesty Bison is not really that good. I am an average player at this game
and can dispose of him without losing 75% of my health meter. At the beginning
of the match use your fireballs, then come in with a strong kicking combo, the
length does not matter, because its sole purpose is to catch him off guard, so
you can hit him with a flip kick. If you have done all of this you should have
taken a nice chunk out of his health. You should have also built your meter up
high enough to do the heavy flare. This move will take him way down, depending
on how much the flare engulfs him, and on whether or not he managed a block. I
would not think it wise to just assume that this will kill him though. You can
not afford to have him come back with a super move, so you are going to have to
close the envelope so to speak. If he is not dead after the super move, use
your lightning kick special, and then go right into your heaviest and longest
combo, show that idiot Shadaloo leader who is boss in this neck of the woods.

Zangief:
Well you are obviously much smaller than the mighty Russian, but that is no
reason to believe you cannot win. Size is nothing more than an external factor
to the fight, the real fight is within. Once you have overcome the size deficit
you should have no problem handling him. Do not approach him immediately once
the match begins, you are going to take the more passive offensive in this
match. If he gets near you, knock the crap out of him. Do not try to go head to
head with him because his main special moves are based on him grappling you,
especially the much feared piledriver. If you does happen to get you in that
move, you are going to have to comphensate for the immediate damage he gave
you, and go right into the heavy flare super move. Now this should have him
down to atleast 35% health, and you should be able to defeat him now by simply
using the general combos and special moves.

Dhalsim:
You are at a serious disadvantage when you fight Dhalsim, because he has the
ability to extend his body parts. But there is also a way to put him at the
disability, by using the factor that gave it to him in the first place. If you
get as close in to him as you possibly can, his punches will take no effect. He
will not be able to extend enough to the point where he can hit you. This is
not all that convient for you though, because he also has the Yoga Flame and
Yoga Fireball, which are not to be taken lightly. Make sure you are ready to
bloke if he tries to pull up and do the Yoga flame, because he can do it quick
and catch you off guard. Now, at the beginning of the match once you are in
close you should be able to use your strong high kick and give him quite a
whallop, so keep doing this as long as you can keep him in the juggle, and time
it so he gets kicked back up before he has a chance to block it again.

Sakura:
Sakura will prove herself to be more of a match you would imagine. She is very
strong for a lady fighter, and some of her moves are deadly strong. In my
opinion she is not as quick as you, but she does possess the speed necessary to
defeat your character if you ever give the chance. Never ever let Sakura get
behind you, because that can prove to be a fatal mistake if it towards the end
of the match. Use your fireballs at the very beginning of the match, and try to
use moves like the lightning kick to try to keep her away from you. She is more
dangerous to you up close than she is when you are at a distance. Now, once you
have her down to about half power, use your super move and make sure you use a
move to guide the super in, basically so she can not block it. You will need to
always be on blocking when you are not on the offensive, that is very clear.

Akuma:
Ah, the crazy fire guy... So at the beginning of this fight you are going to
give him a taste of his own medicene, by giving him as many fireballs as you
can pump off before he runs into close quarters with you. Ok, once you and he
are in closer fighting quarters, get right up in his face and give him you best
Combo, no matter what it be, you will be glad you took the early edge later.
Now, he will probably go into a section of the fight when he just gets
repetitive with his fireballs. Block all of those, but do not assume he will
keep it up, so after one, dart in and high kick him under the chin before he
even knows what you have done. This is a good way to lead into your super move,
or a large combo, because you can start the command just as he shows signs of
getting up, so then he will be completely unblocked and vulnerable. However,
this is just what usually happens with me, he is to be considered unpredictable
and highly dangerous, so just make sure that you always have your finger close
to block.

Ken:
Ah, the ever predictable and weaker than everyone thinks he is Shotokan. Ken is
very predictable, because he has remained the same for all of the Street
Fighter games, so why would he change now. He is to be considered semi
aggressive, because he seems to be a little different each match, but his
general approach is always the same. At the beginning of the match, dart right
in and kick or sweep him before he has a chance to even get himself together.
Now once he gets up odds are he is going to do the same fireball he always
does, so be prepared to block it or counter it with the fireball of your own.
Now go right into your combos, you should have atleast 3 good ones familiar to
you by now. After you have run out of your knowledgeable combos, back out a
little and allow him to come to you. Now it is time to play cat and mouse.
Whenever he gets to close hit him with a burrosh of repetitive fireballs, or a
sweep kick but don't fall back farther. Now go into a throw and be ready to do
the lightning kick when he turns back around.

Ryu:
Ryu's strategy is the same for Ken. Consider the basic part of the strategy and
the way they will attack the same, the only thing that is different is how the
strength will be different. Ryu is stronger, so it will take more, also meaning
that the match will be dragged out longer. So just repeat the beginning of it.

the lightning kick when he turns back around.

Dan:
Dan, what more can I say about Dan other than the fact that he is weak, over
weight for a video game character, and all to repetitive to become a threat for
the pride of China, Chun-Li. Now at the beginning of the match get right up
close to him and start doing ever combo you know over and over again, this
should catch him by surprise and he wont be able to counter it or block fast
enough. Once he is out, he will likely do that annoying kick with the blue
stuff. So if he wants to play the kicking game, give him the strong kick juggle
explained in the Dhalsim section. This should keep him occupied for a while,
and then he is so easy you can just finish him with a super move of your
choice.

Spiderman:
Well, Spiderman is a match for just about nay of the characters. HE is very
fast, and has moves that he uses to delay you, which then allows him to move
into position to perform something better. So, the main thing you have to do to
beat Spiderman, is be as quick and agile as he is. Right at the beginning of
the match, use a fireball just to get things started in your favor. Now the
odds are he is going to try to hit you with those stupid little web shots, or
get you all wrapped up in the web tangle thing. These have to be blocked,
because if you don't he will move into position for a combo or a super move.
The first time I ever played against him it was over in 2 moves, my friend
wrapped me up and did a crazy huge combo before I even knew what was happening,
so you always have to be ready to block those. Use your kicks to your
advantage. He has a much lower gravity point than you, so he is able to trip
you up a lot more. You need to use your sweep kicks, and try to switch sides on
him, just to keep him confused if you can. Stay low when you get into close
quarters or he'll get under your attacks and knock you down, then you are
vulnerable to whatever he does next.

Cyclops:
Cyclops is not necessarily strong, but he has an abundance of moves that don't
have to be done in close combat, so it gives him a distance advantage, as where
most of your moves are done fairly close to your opponent for them to work.
This means you are going to have to take the speed of the match up to the next
level. Make sure the pace is always grueling for him, it should be no problem
for you. Frequently call in your partner just to mix it up a bit and take a
little rest. Try to keep him confused and then hit him with very powerful high
kicks when he finally allows you to get behind him out of confusion. Do not
however forget about blocking, because he will get the occasional beam and you
need to be ready, because this should be a very good opportunity for a high
score.

Captain America:
Captain America is a seriously under rated character. He is very strong and has
some pretty cool super moves, and I think the way he looks kind of throws
people off as to how strong he actually is. Now at the beginning of the match,
go in close and try a couple of throws just to set the basic pace of the match.
He is about as strong as a Dhalsim or Ken, so you will need to watch out for
his super moves, because if he broadsides you with one he may get enough damage
as to where you simply cannot hit him hard enough and long enough to win. And I
know how much you hate to lose if you took the time to even read this. So fall
back after the throws and go right into all of your special moves, just go down
the list, using a sweep kick to lead into all of them. Then use the heavy flare
as your overall finisher one he is at about 20% health, if you hit him hard
enough with it that will surely be the end.

Hulk:
The same strategy that you used for Zangief is to be used for Hulk, because
they are basically the sam ekind of huge grappling fighter, just with different
moves. However the one thing you will have to watch out for is the gama crush.
He does that one in the air and he doesn't have to grab you, so just be
watchful. Other than that they are really the same kind of fight, be cautious.
Well you are obviously much smaller than the mighty mutant, but that is no
reason to believe you cannot win. Size is nothing more than an external factor
to the fight, the real fight is within. Once you have overcome the size deficit
you should have no problem handling him. Do not approach him immediately once
the match begins, you are going to take the more passive offensive in this
match. If he gets near you, knock the crap out of him. Do not try to go head to
head with him because his main special moves are based on him grappling you,
especially the much feared gama crush. If you does happen to get you in that
move, you are going to have to comphensate for the immediate damage he gave
you, and go right into the heavy flare super move. Now this should have him
down to atleast 35% health, and you should be able to defeat him now by simply
using the general combos and special moves.

Wolverine:
Wolverine is more known for his hand to hand combat, partly because he has iron
claws on his arms, but hey that is no excuse to be defeated. You should go
right up head on with him, because I have found that the CPU rarely ever does
his super moves, when they do all of the other characters quite frequently. A
beginners mistake against him is to think that because of the claws he can
block better, which is totally false. Just use your combos and super moves once
you build up to them at a decent pace and this should be no problem. However
never underestimate an opponent especially him, because next thing you know he
will be all over you slicin' and dicin'!

4.) Fighting Tactics
--------------------
- Never let your opponent get behind you. If you do, they will be able to broad
side you because you left your entire back open to get hit. A super combo or
even just a super move in the back will take a chunk out of the characters.

- Do not become repetitive with your fireballs. If you do, eventually, if you
are playing against a human opponent, they will be able to tell what move you
are going to do and when. This is because you will have showed them what kind
of fighter you are if you are repetitive. They will know your just going to
do
the same move over and over again, so they would just counter it.

- Be careful when you go up into the air, because you don't want to get caught
off guard, especially against another strong jumper like Chun-li or Ryu. They
will hit you with something hard, and knock you out of the air if you don't,
pay attention to what you are doing in the air.

- When you are playing against another human opponent, keep in mind what you
are
actually doing. Be ruthless, win at all costs and play to kill your opponent.
If you are soft on your opponent while they are upset because they are losing
The second you give them a break they will make you pay for it. Never give in
No matter how in experienced a player your opponent is.

- Watch out for hustlers and manipulators. First of all, never under estimate
any opponent, even if you know them very well. This is especially true for the
guys you have never seen before in the arcade. Even if you watch them lose a
few
fights and act like a complete beginner, keep an eye out to see if they are
even
really trying. Never, ever jump up to an opponent right after they have been, I
have seen it before. They lost just so that you would play them, then they beat
the living crap out of you. Watch out for people who whine a lot and are always
complaining about moves you do and such, they are often sneaky and stuff.

- A good fighting game player is ruthless. They realize that they are only
playing a game, so they aren't even really violent people. But if you are going
to play something, you play to win. In this case, you play to win at all costs.
A good player, never under estimates his opponents, nor does he show excitement
or sorrow in defeat or victory. A poker face is needed to be a true master of
the genre. You will have more effect on a beaten opponent if you don't show
happiness, because they won't just think your good, they'll think you are
REALLY good, and that sort of intimidation is good when playing other, but
don't let anyone intimidate you. Never believe everything you here about the
new guy in the arcade, half of it isn't true. You should not fear anyone while
playing, because you are just as capable of winning as they, but you have to
want to win or it doesn't matter. Fighting games are the most popular arcade
genre of games in the world. If you play in tourneys or just for fun, remember
these words.
