I. Introduction

From the makers of King's Field one and two(oooh yeeeah), comes this game based on
the manga Spriggan(Striker in the US, also an anime movie soon to be released in the us by
AD Vision I believe). If you're familiar with the series, you play a Striker named Oshiki
Tashiki rather than Yuu Ominae, but you do meet him in the game as well as Jean Jaquemonde.

If you're not familiar, here's the gist of it: you play the role of Oshiki Tashiki, a
Spriggan. A Spriggan is a commando that has been trained to be a soldier since birth,
basically, they're damn good. Oshiki(I believe) works for the Arcam foundation, which is
dedicated to sealing away powerful artifacts so that man cannot use them for evil. I take
it that Oshiki is also a rookie, so you build him up as you play the game.

Oh yeah, for the controls, O is Circle, X is X(gee), T is Triangle, and S is Square.
HP is Hit Points, and EP is Energy Points. AM suit refers to the Armored Muscle suits.

II. Controls

Assuming the main control scheme,
Digital Pad: Resident Evil Movement (Right and Left turn character)
Analog Pad: Direct Movement (Right and Left move right or left)
X: Jump/Cancel(Menu options)
O: Attack1(Basic Attack)/Action(like opening a door)/Confirm(Menu)
T: Hard Attack/Use weapon(when armed)
S: Move Camera behind character
Double Tap to change weapon or move
Hold to walk
L1/R1: Strafe left/right
L2/R2: Look up/down
Select: Bring up menu(during game)
ITEM: lets you go through your inventory.
X to exit, O to use
MAP: lets you check your automap. Use the L and R buttons
to move it around
WEAPON: another way to change your weapon(I just use S)
Start: Pause

You can change these in the Key Config. menu, which is pretty much all english anyway.

III. Items

Here are the main items you'll see:

Rations: They look like yellow candy bars. Eating one restores _all_ of your HP. Use
them wisely.

Ammo: They look like little open boxes. I believe it's one clip for whatever gun you
have.

Tranquilizers: These guys recharge your EP for psychic attacks. They look like light
blue cards with a white label with a yellow fruit on it. That, or a
labeled VHS tape. Why tranquilizers? I dunno, maybe you get a little
crazy or somethin' when you Zero Bust.

Ability Points: They look like blue or red crystals. Pick 'em up at all costs:
they'll allow you to strengthen your character. Why Ability
Points and not just Ability Crystals? Well, that's what they
call 'em in the manual. Really.

IV. Fighting

On fighting: Combo Attack - O-O-T
Knife Combo - O-O-T with knife armed
Dash Attack - Run, then T. If you run longer, there's a different attack.

On shooting: After you ready your gun, and aim at a viable object, the object should
blink, and you'll see a health meter at the bottom left; this lets you know
you're aiming at it. You may miss though; your aim gets better if you're in
a better position to shoot at your target. So if you keep missing, center
your target on the screen and get a clear line of fire first. When you run
out of ammo, just fire again and you'll reload automatically.

On movement: It's like most other Tomb Raider-y games. You can run around, strafe, jump,
and catch and hang on to ledges(it's automatic; press up to climb up and down
to drop).

Psychic Attacks: Once you get the Armored Muscle suits, you can use psychic attacks. They
use your EP(Energy Points I guess). It works like this; once you're
wearing an Armored Muscle suit, press L1 and R1 together to execute your
Zero Bust, which allows you to kick ass. Now you'll see a Psych meter
at the top left appear. As long as it's there, you can charge it up by
holding down O, and then you can fire a sort of orb of death by hitting
T. You'll also see that after you charge it, it says Lev. 1 by it. I
think you can charge it up further, but I'm not that far yet...

That one move: There's one more move that the booklet mentions that I'm not sure of; it
looks like a sort of defensive burst(like Geese's Power Shell from Fatal
Fury, a flame rising up in a circle around you), and I believe you
do it by pressing O and L1 and R1 when you're weak or something.

On the AM Suits: Here's the differences between them(when you get them at least)
Power: You now have to ability to effectively pulp the enemy. You have
two different dash attacks, one is the flying kick if you run
a short distance, and the other is a dashing punch(better) if you
run a decent distance.

Defence: Your dash move is now a sort of instantaneous punch, and your
combo move ends in a sort of backhand.

Speed: You can move quickly now, and some of your attacks are different.
Your combo looks a little different, and your dash attack is a
sliding kick. Your jumping attack is now a kick down at an angle,
and your knife dash attack is a lot quicker, and a lot better.
Aside from moving a lot faster(the Speed suit and the gun work
really well together), you climb faster, and hop up from ledges
faster.

That last thing I'm not sure of: R. Experience. As you fight with a AM Suit on, you
get R. Exp. for everybody you defeat. I think it
increases your suit stats.

V. Upgrading your character

After you beat the first mission, you can upgrade your stats by going to Adjust->Status.
It's pretty easy to figure out, but here's what the stats mean and do:

Concentration: Related to your Psychic abilities. The higher it is, the less time
it takes you to charge your Psych gauge.

Power: Your power(gee). The higher it is, the higher your Attack is, and the more
easily you can beat down the bad men.

Resist: You defensive stat. The higher it is, the higher you A.C.(Armor Class, or
Defence for others). You don't get hurt as much when you get hit.

Stamina: Your endurance and HP stat. The higher it is, the more HP you get. You
get more HP by adding to other stats as well, but not nearly as much as
when you add it to this stat(it's about 4 or 5 times as much I think).

Mind: Your EP stat. The higher it is, the more EP you get, and consequently, the
more you can use your psychic abilities.

VI. Beginning the Game/Training Missions

When you start the game, you have to pass all of the Training sequences before you can
progress to the missions. Also, you don't recieve any of the Muscle Suits or Psychic
powers until later in the game. So, here's the training missions(enter them by doing
a basic attack near the "window"):

Mission 1: Destroy the block
Jump onto the block and Knee Bash it (Jump and use a Hard Attack)
Dash attack the block (Run and use a Hard Attack)
Just destroy the block: it teaches you that your knife can't damage
certain objects

Mission 2: Jump onto the blocks and get the ration
Having trouble?: Try looking up or down to make it easier
when jumping from block to block.

Mission 3: Walk(NOT run) across the balance beams and get the ration
Having trouble?: Remember to walk(hold S) and use the digital
pad to walk rather than the analog. Also,
near the end, walk past the first moving block,
and then jump to the other beam then get the
ration.

Mission 4: Jump onto the blocks, cross the balance beam(it's okay to run on this
one, jump up to the switch, use it to freeze the rotating blocks, then
get the ration in the center of the moving blocks.
Having trouble?: The moving blocks tend to knock you off at the
end of the balance beam if you're not careful.
Also, you may have to use the switch several times
to freeze the blocks in the right position.

Mission 5: Get your gun out and shoot the targets; first shoot all the ones in
the air, then the targets that come out of the floor.
Having trouble?: Try looking up and down to focus on the targets.

Mission 6: Jump across the rotating platforms to the switch. Use the switch to
drain the water, then drop down, destroy the box, and pick up the ammo.
Note that you can't swim; rather, you lose half of your hitpoints and
get dumped back where you jumped from(pretty much).

Mission 7: Beat up the two guards. If you have problems with this, you should
consider another game. Really.

Mission 8: It's marked as Secret for the time being until you get your Armored
Muscle(AM) suits.

Mission 9: Beat the crap out of a good soldier.
Having trouble?: You can just run around the guy and shoot him,
go down. Also, those are mines on the floor,
and they'll creep towards you, so be careful.

Exit: You're done. On to the missions.

VII. The Missions

The missions are pretty basic get from A to B deals, with some minor puzzles here
and there(get this key, bust up these statues, etc.). I'll go through the first
mission in full, and just give the details of the rest. I'm not going to be anal
and give the exact locations of every item box in the game because I don't have that
much free time, and it's more game playing for you anyway. As for the names of the
missions, those are the exact ones they give, spelling and all...

Mission 1: Escape from A Lab

Welcome to your first mission. I believe the idea is to escape the
compound. First, beat up the two guys in the room. This shouldn't
be too hard, you can either strafe and shoot them, or you can go up
to them and use the knife combo. The knife does a great deal
of damage, and should be your close combat weapon until you get your
Armored Muscle suits; it kills most weaker enemies with one swipe. Go
through the door. Guards will filter in every now and then, so just
kill them as necessary. There should be a little room in the corner;
break its door, go inside, and break a sort of green power box inside
there. It _will_ explode and hurt you some, so be prepared. Go through
the next door in the main room. Turn right, and you should see another
green power box underneath a red light. Break it; Don't forget to use
rations as you need them (hit select, then go to item, and then use a
ration).

Turn left, run by the boxes and hit the switch on the lift looking thing.
It will bring a box over so you can jump to the top of the boxes. There
are two crates here you can bust open and get stuff from. You can jump
across the top and go through a door. Shoot the ceiling guns, and keep
going. You'll be back in the room where you destroyed the first power
box. Jump across the top and get what's in the gray box.

Now you'll notice that the fan has stopped. Break the grate in front of
it and run through. Shoot the guns, break the grates and collect the
stuff, and finally drop down into the hallway. Keep on going through a
second fan into a new room. Kill people. You'll notice that the screen
focuses on a card lock on the door; you need to get a card key.

If you don't have one(check your inventory; believe it or not it looks
like *gasp* a card), jump on the boxes to the catwalk and go through the
door. Kill a guy, shoot gun turrets. Keep going and you'll enter the
room where the first fan and powerbox were. Keep killin' until you get
that card key. You most likely had it already though.

Back to that door. Use the card key from your inventory on the lock(if
you just use the lock, it asks you to enter your card key anyway).
You've just finished the mission.

Now you'll get some new menus, be able to change the equipment of your character(as
you get the equipment...), be able to upgrade your character, and most importantly,
YOU CAN SAVE NOW(go to the System option).

You'll also notice that you get a bunch of statistics on how you did at the end of
the mission. The better you do, and the more Ability Points you pick up, the more
you'll be able to upgrade your character.

Mission 2: Defend from the U.S. Force

Yay! You get to see Jean Jaquemonde in this mission(he's the blonde
one). Anyway, beat up people, make sure you pick up a rifle from one of
them after beating them up, and go through a tunnel on one of the
rock walls.

Run around until you find the C4 in a box, and watch out for the guys
with bazookas; they hurt. A lot. Strafe around their shots and knife
them, and they'll go down, and use rations as you need them. Also,
soldiers will continuously parachute in, so don't waste too much time on
them. However, if you want to stock up on rations, beat the crap out
of 'em all you want. Also look for an item that looks like a box; I'm
not sure, but I think the idea is to get that box for your AM suits.

You need to get one more C4 from a bazooka guy's body, then run over
to the rock blocking the tunnel(the one you came through, you jump
onto a ledge to get to it), and use the C4 on it. Get away from it
before it blows, and if you screw up, get another C4 from the bazooka
guy.

Blow up the other rock in the original area where you started, go through
the passage, get some Ability Points from a box, and run on down and
watch the end of the mission. Don't forget to arm your Colt M653 rifle,
or stick with the pistol(it's more powerful). I like the Colt; you get
30 bullets a clip instead of 15 now.

Mission 3: Take Back the Artifact

Your mission is to find the Opus, which is a sort of rock bird looking
thing. Also, you're supposed to protect the people running boxes to the
docks. Then again, the first time I played, I shot them just the same
and I passed the mission fine. Hm.

Shoot all the guards on the roof and around the perimeter, then blow up
ALL the boxes in the warehouses. One of them has the Opus. Now, a
boss comes out for you to fight. Don't use bullets on him, just give
him a good ol' beat down with your fists.

Mission 4: Investigation on the Seabed

You finally get to go search some ruins! Just remember you can't swim,
even if you can see items down in the water(you can proabably drain the
water _then_ go get them. that or fat chance). You'll be fighting
some chimera-like monsters now, and they have projectile attacks _and_
can deal out the damage, so be careful. I prefer to just shoot them.
Also note that you can bust up some pillars here and there for items,
as well as the ice in the doorways. You can also bust up a fake wall
in a room down by a pool. Go in the room and come out, and you get to
meet Yuu Ominae(the main character from Spriggan/Striker), as well as
Jean again. Yuu decides that it's alright for you to search to ruin and
leaves it to you, and gives you an artifact(it looks like a orange slice
made of stone, or a roly-poly).

Use the artifact on the big circle in the room you were just in(some
text pops up when you stand on it too), and you'll be teleported to
another area. There's some stone statues here that come to life when
you get near them, and they do good damage too, so knife them quickly,
one at a time. Each one also gives you a ration when they die.

Lion head switches will toggle the gates. When you see the double gates
that you can't seem to walk through, do a Hard Attack by one of the
openings, and it'll force Oshiki through. There's also a place where
there's a bunch of water, and small poles sticking out of it that you can
jump across on. An easy way to do it without falling into the water a
lot is to look down as far as you can, and then jump forward to the next
pole until you see it at the bottom-center of your screen; it makes
landing on them a lot easier this way. You'll probably want to do this
because when you find this area, you need to get across(one way or
another, this is the quickest) to get to a room which has a pedestal in
the center of a small pool(you can walk in it). It's protected by two
monsters which can be taken down easily with a gun, but will put the
hurtin' on you if you get too close. Use the golden key you found when
you first teleported to this area(you had to break open some ice to get
it) on the pedestal and the water will drain out of the place.

Now go back to the place with the poles and you'll see the water's all
gone. Use the Warp Zone(s'what it's called) circle in the middle of the
floor by using the orange slice rock and you'll enter a new area,
complete with red carpet. Run forward and you'll see a girl. You have
no choice but to beat her up; be careful, she WILL hurt you if you're not
careful. I suggest shooting her as much as possible, then running to the
other side when she charges you. Jumping and then coming down on her
with the knife seems to work decently too.

Use the orange rock on the door and walk on through. Welcome to your
first RIDICULOUSLY HARD boss! He will tear you up, and he's also hard to
damage. How to beat him? Circle-strafe around him until you're at his
side, run in, and do a combo attack then run away. He'll hit you whether
you like it or not, and punches and knives do about the same amount of
damage it seems; I prefer punches. Don't bother shooting him; it's a
waste of time. *sigh* Hope you have a lot of rations by now. I needed 7
or 8.

BUT NOW THE PAYOFF! YEEHAW! Say hello to 3 new Armored Muscle Suits!

You now get the Power, Defence, and Speed Type AM suits to use, and they make a HUGE
difference. You'll need them too...


Mission 5: Driving Back the Ninja

One of the easier missions, yet still challenging in its own way. Just
run around and beat up the ninjas as fast as you can, and prevent them
from destroying the truck. Don't forget to search the truck and take the
items in there as well as around the stage.

After this mission, you get a new gun! The SIG SG550 is now the perfect thing to
fire up the bad men with.

Mission 6: Explore an Unknown Ruins

This level sucks to do, unless you get the hang of it. I'd suggest using
the Defence type AM suit for this level. Pretty easy for the puzzles,
knock out 2 torches to walk through the door, beat up spiders, break
pillars, etc. until you come to a hallway with two passages(one closed
right now) with red text by it. Take the left passage, I think you can
only take the right one if you have the Speed AM suit(or else you'll die
and get crushed). The left one can be opened by using the statue in the
room behind it. Beat up all the spiders that appear in the 3 rooms and
try not to use your rations. I suggest shooting the spiders(use all the
ammo you want) and saving your EP for later. After you finish the
spiders, you'll be in a long hallway. Destroy all the torches and use
the wall(you'll see a long white line up and down it) and it'll open up.

Run inside and Old Dead Guy will speak and then bring the two
Ashura-looking statues to life to kick your ass. Use your Zero Bust and
psychic ball attack to defeat them, bullets don't do any damage. I
suggest destroying one of them first, and staying away until they breathe
fire at you, then charging them from the side and then using the psychic
ball attack, then run away and repeat. You DON'T want to get caught in
their sword attack as it hurts a helluva lot. Use tranquilizers and
rations as necessary.

After beating them, Old Dead Guy dies again, and you can go into a
passage that opens up. Now you're in a lava platform level. Jump across
the platforms, get to the end(jump onto a ledge sticking out from the
cave face), and use the big rock in there. Apparently, you've found a
place with 3 tons of Orihalcum metal, which, if you've read/seen the
series, you'll know is a hella lotta 'halcum.

Mission 7: Rescue the Arcam Investigater

Not too hard of a level. I chose the Speed AM Suit for the level, and I
think it works out best actually. You'll see a lot of tiger men around
this level, and they WILL hit pretty hard if you let them. What I did
was run up and dash attacked them with the knife, then repeatedly knifed
them until they were dead(3 more knifes for me). The Speed AM suit makes
you fight faster too, so they don't have a chance to attack back. In
fact, you can run around killing a bunch of them for R. Experience if you
want.

Anyway, the main thing you have to do in this level is to use this peg
to raise some platforms, then jump on the black square which raises you
to the second level, then run over and jump over the platforms you just
raised.

The final boss is a crazy evil guy(TM) who puts on a ancient mask(see
_why_ Arcam seals this stuff away?) and becomes a boss(no, really), and
has 4 beast cronies also attack you. Shoot the beasts first, then just
dash attack and generally hurt him 'till he's dead.

Go down the pit that just opened up and find the big gold thingy, and
punch it(naturally). End of mission.

I'll add the other mission notes in a later revision. Mainly 'cause I haven't
played them yet. Go fig.

VIII. End notes

The goal of this FAQ is to supply enough information so that anybody who comes
across this game has enough info to play and enjoy the game, as I like the game myself. It
isn't bloody likely others will provide such information for such an obscure game(in the
US), hence the birth of Chef Booyadee's Obscure FAQ's for Obscure Games. This is the first
FAQ I've done as such, and I hope you enjoy it. I'll add the other mission notes later, as
well any details I've forgotten(like the EP booster's name). I'm NOT providing
translations, as my Japanese is still pretty poor, and there's Kanji a-plenty in this game.
Oy.

Spriggan in the US is known as Striker, and there's 3 or 4 manga/graphic novels you
can find, all translated stuff by Viz Comics(I believe). It's damn good stuff, and I highly
recommend it. The anime is damn sweet too, soon to be out by AD Vision, although
unfortunately, Jean doesn't get all crazy like he does in the manga...*sigh* Try going to
www.anipike.com if you want to learn more about this series.
