Hello, and welcome to my Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty
FAQ/Walkthrough. This is my first ever FAQ and I hope you all like it. It
would be great if you people can give me your feedback because I would
really like to read it. Email me at NOLIMITZ13@HOTMAIL.COM. This FAQ is for
NORMAL MODE. This FAQ/Walkthrough is for the only purpose of getting you
through the game alive. This Walkthrough will NOT give you locations or how
to get DOG TAGS. There are already many FAQs with that information and I
don't think it's nessicary in this one. Thankyou for reading so far, and
now, ON WITH THE FAQ!

This FAQ may contain spoilers, so read at your own risk.

Version 0.5 - Just started the FAQ. Submitting with only the TANKER Section
done so far. PLANT chapter will be in next update.

Weapons

M9 - Tranquilizer gun. Uses anesthetic bullets capable of knocking out
enemies. Used by Snake and Raiden.

USP - Handgun. Equiped with laser sighting. Used by Snake.

SOCOM - Handgun. Equiped with laser sighting and can be equiped with a
suppressor. Used by Raiden

Hand Grenade - Hand-thrown explosive. Used by Snake and Raiden

Chaff Greanade - Hand-thrown explosive that temporary disables cameras. Used
by Snake and Raiden

Stun Grenade- Hand-throw explosive that temporary disables enemies. Used by
Snake and Raiden

Claymore - Land Mine. Will explode if something goes in its range. Used by
Raiden

C4 - Plastic Explosives. Explodes when detenonated. Used by Raiden

AK-74U - Assault Rifle. Rapidly fires bullets and can be equiped with
suppressor. Used by Raiden

M4- Assault Rifle. Rapidly fires bullets. Used by Raiden

PSG1 - Sniper Rifle. Used to fire at enemies from afar. Used by Raiden

Stinger - Missile Launcher. Locks on to whatever is targeted. Used by Raiden

Nikita - Missile Launcher. Remote control missile launcher. Used by Raiden

RGB6 - Grenade Launcher. Launches grenades that explode on impact. Used by
Raiden

TANKER CHAPTER

Aft Deck
--------

-Immediatly go left until you see a flight of stairs
-Go up the stairs jump over the box and railing
-M9 or avoid the guard, and go through the door

-----------------------
Deck-A, Crew's quarters
-----------------------

-When entering the room, turn right and follow the trail. (The door infront
of you dosen't work)
-You will see a door, go through the doors and search the lockers for some
items (Ration,M9 bullets)
-Get out, M9 the guard, and go through the door at the end

Deck-A, crew's lounge
---------------------

-M9 both guards, collect any items, and go upstairs into the unlocked door

-----------------------
Deck-B, crew's quarters
-----------------------

-M9 both guards in the area, and collect any items
-When done, go west,through the passage way, and up the stairs

-----------------------
Deck-C, crew's quarters
-----------------------

-There is a camera in this hallway
-When near the camera, flatten yourself against the wall and go under its
"blind spot"
-Collect any items, and go upstairs

-----------------------
Deck-D, crew's quarters
-----------------------

-Immediatly go left,through the door and M9 the guard
-Through a chaff grenade when the guard in the next room isnt facing the
door
-Go through door and M9 the guard and go upstairs
-If you're not ready to go upstairs yet, search for any items

Deck-E, the bridge
------------------

-Watch the cinema
-Collect any items in the room and go through the door on the West side

Navigational Deck

BOSS BATTLE

Tips

-Use third person view mode when she is out in the open
-Hide behind boxes
-Dive between boxes so she dosen't know where you are
-Shoot out the tarp and light early in the battle
-Shoot for the head
-Stun Grenades work well (if you can find them)
-Don't worry about sacrifices a hit to get a shot off her

-You now have the USP, but stick with the M9 right now because it is
silenced
-After the battle, go east and up the stairs
-Go up the long latter, and collect the Thermal Goggles at the top
-Go back down, and go through the door where you came.
-Go back to Deck A

---------------------
Deck A, Crew'a Lounge
---------------------

-M9 or evade the guards and go east through the passage way
-You will see stairs. Go down them
-Go through the door

-----------
Engine Room
-----------

-Collect all items in the room
-Go out and punch punch kick the guard for a cool little cinema
-Make your way through the engine room(it's pretty straigtforward) and take
out any guards you would like
-Collect any items you see
-Go through the door and take out the guard that comes in
-Solve the mini puzzle

Deck 2
------

-Equip thermal goggles and when you see a guard coming, tranquilize him
-Collect any items you want
-Make your way to the end and go through door (all other doors don't work)

-----------------
Deck-2, starboard
-----------------

-Make your way down until you see a cinema
-Time for a good old-fashioned gun fight! YEEHAW!
-Use the USP
-Duck and cover then shoot when you see a guy reloading

Hold 1

-Cross to the left side and REMEMBER to duck under the projector
-M9 the guard blocking the way on the loud floor
-Crawl over loud floor

Hold 2
------
-Use the same method as above but go to the right

Hold 3

-Watch the cinema
-Take a picture of the right,center,and left side of Ray
-And also, go down the left side to take a picture of the MARINES lettering
-Go back and take it to that computer you saw when you came through the door
-Watch very cool cinema

PLANT CHAPTER

Strut A Deep Sea Dock
---------------------

-Collect items in room and exit through the door (remember the Thermal
Goggles in the water)
-Go through the hallway
-Log into the Node and find a hiding spot
-Wait for the elevator, and go into it when the guards aren't looking.

Strut A Roof
------------

-Collect items in area
-Go through cut in the fence on the west side

-----------------
Strut A Pump Room
-----------------

-Check lockers for items
-You don't have a weapon yet, so evade the guard and go in the door on the
EAST side

F/A Connecting Bridge
---------------------

-Watch out for the Cypher and go through the door at the end

-----------------
Strut F Warehouse
-----------------

-Ignore the guard and go to the end of that little hallway to the east
-This is the only door without a security pass, grab the M9
-Get out, get the ration, and leave through the door you came
-Go Back to STRUT A

Strut A

-M9 the guard and log into the NODE
-Go out through the WEST door now

A/B Connecting Bridge
---------------------

-M9 both guards, (ignore the hanging)
-Go through door

Strut B Transformer Room
------------------------

-Watch the VERY cool cinema
-Log into the node
-Collect items
-Advance to the next bridge

B/C Connecting Bridge
---------------------

-Nothing interesting so just collect the chaff and go to the next Strut

Strut C
-------

-Advance until you see the cinema
-Log into the NODE and head for the Womens bathroom to find the bomb
-Check the ceiling where the mirror is and spray it with the COOLANT
-Now head to the C/D bridge

C/D Connecting Bridge
---------------------

-M9 the guard and pass
-Shoot out the camera with the SOCOM

---------------------
Strut D Sediment Pool
---------------------

-When entering, M9 every guard you see
-If backup calls for no response, immediatly leave than come back in
-Go downstairs and log into the node on the east side
-The bomb is on the west side of the bottom floor in the last maintenance
shaft on that side
-Proceed to D/E bridge

D/E Connecting Bridge
---------------------

-There is one guard on the bridge, and one on the roof looking over
-M9 both guards and proceed

-------------------
Strut E Parcel Room
-------------------

-Wait till the first guard turns around, then you should M9 him, then go to
the NODE
-M9 or evade second guard and head to the roof
-Collect any items

Strut E Heliport
----------------

-Watch the cinema
-Go up the stairs
-The bomb is under the Harrier, so look under it and COOLANT the bomb
-Go back to the Parcel Room and head out the door that leads to the E/F
bridge

E/F Connecting Bridge
---------------------

-First, M9 the guard looking over the bridge
-Then, Equip the the Thermal goggles and CRAWL onto each claymore
-Go to the South door

-----------------
Strut F Warehouse
-----------------

-This can be a TRICKY area
-First, turn left and look through the small hallway
-M9 the guard you see
-Then go to where that sleeping guard is and across from you M9 the other
guard
-Go to the WEST side and jump over the railing and drop
-you should land on the boxes and infront of you is the bomb
-Coolant it, get out and M9 the guard on the bottom floor
-Go South on the bottom floor and head through the left door
-Log into the node (there is a vent in this room that leads to the SOCOM
suppresor)
-Collect any items
-Head to the F/A bridge




**********Note: I will no longer be explaining the bridges, now that we have
gone through them already***********************

Strut A
-------

-Go through the previously locked door
-SOCOM (Remember to attach suppressor) the camera and M9 the guard
-Collect any items
-Go to the right side of the pipes, and go up and down the stairs
-Crawl under green pipes until you see the red one
-When under the red pipe, go south and you'll see the bomb on that structure
-COOLANT it, and head to strut B

-------
Strut B
-------

-M9 the guard in the hallway and go into the Tranformer area
-M9 the guard
-Near the other door in this area you will see an open door to the left of
it
-Close that door and COOLANT the bomb
-Head to Strut C to get Sensor B

-------
Strut C
-------

-Get SENSOR B in the pantry Stillman was hiding
-OH NO! The bombs gonna go off in 400 seconds
-Head to Strut A. FAST!

-------
Strut A
-------

-While in Strut A go back up the stairs and head for the elevator
-Go back to where you started the playing in the plant
-Check above to pool under the submarine thing
-COOLANT it,and head back to the elevator

Tips

-Hide behind crates until you are visible for hit
-Be always on the move
-Don't shoot at her
-USE THE BOX (running and ducking at the same time)
-Watch out for obstacles above you

-OH NO, another Bomb Timer!
-Go back to the Strut A Pump Room. WATCH FOR THE CLAYMORE MINES!
-Equip the Mine Detector and crawl over the mines
-Head to Strut E. FAST!

-Go to the roof
-On the roof, go up the stairs and dispose of the bomb
-Prepare for your next Boss battle

FATMAN

Tips

-Get off at least one good hit between disarming bombs
-Run and shoot (Hold L1 & [], and run)
-Don't worry about sacrificing a hit for a hit
-Keep an eye on the radar to see where he is

-The LAST BOMB is under him, so move him and COOLANT it
-After that, go to the stairs to watch the VERY cool cinema
-OK, now you have to head to the Shell 1 Core, but first you need the AK
-Make your way to Strut F

Strut F
-------

-The AK is on the bottom floor behind the Level 2 doors
-Take out the guards with whatever method you want
-The doors are on the North side of the lower floor
-Go in them and collect all the items you can
-Head back to the E/F bridge

E/F Connecting Bridge
---------------------

-First, you may want to take care of the guard looking over the area
-Second, you can either destroy the cyphers or throw a chaff
-Now run across the WEST bridge
-Watch out, the tiles of the bridge fall out, so run fast
-REMEMBER, when you're infront of the door, Equip both the BDU and the AK

Shell 1 Core, 1F
----------------

-Fairly easy, just head to the elevator with the BDU and AK equiped
-Go to B2

----------------
Shell 1 Core, B2
----------------

-Easy again. Go down the steps to the computer room
-Log into the node and get the MIC.
-Collect any items
-Head to B1

Shell 1 Core, B1
----------------

-EASY AREA! Log into the node
-Wait till the walking guard isn't looking at you
-When he is not, unequip your weapon, and chokehold him
-Bring him to the eye scanner

Shell 1 Core, B1 Hall

-Wait to use the MIC when the guards not looking
-MIC each person who you suspect is Ames
-When you hear a METALLIC SQUINK in someones beat, that your man
-Watch the cinema
-Equip you BDU and AK
-DON'T MOVE! Just wait till the timer goes down!
-Watch cinema
-GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE!
-Get out of the building and head to Strut F to get the PSG1

-Check every door you can open and collect all the weapons
-When done, head to STRUT D

Strut D
-------

-Go through the north door to the
-Shell 1-2 Connecting Bridge

-OK, Now you have to Destroy the bomb panels with the green light to diffuse
the bomb
-Here are the locations:

-Directly behind you
-On the orange pillar to the NORTH
-TWO near the steps (go down the steps a little and shoot with SOCOM)
-North-West on the bridge
-Right of the bridge (surronded by PIGEONS
-2 on the right and left of the Strut G passageway
-On top of the CYPHER
-Behind the SONS OF LIBERTY flag

-Prepare for your next boss battle

HARRIER

Tips

-Get 3 good hits right at the beginning
-When he sends off missiles from the sky, go into hanging mode
-Again, don't worry about getting hit, if you could get off some good shots
-Shouldn't be hard (You won't even get hit after a couple of times of facing
him)

-After the fight go into hanging mode on the east railing
-Move right until your over the pipe, then drop
-Move over the pipe carefully and jump on the ledge
-Turn right and run until you get to the other railing that leads to the
bridge
-Drop down and M9 the guards that come in
-Jump over the gaps and go up the ladder

-----------------
Strut L Perimeter
-----------------

-Avoid the guards and cross
-You now have to press your back against the wall and walk
-Duck down when your head is about to hit the thing on the wall
-Make your way across and drop down to the next bridge

K/L Connecting Bridge
---------------------

-Move across, go up the steps, and turn right to the broken door
-From here, sniper every Cypher that is hovering the Shell 2 Core
-Now head to the Shell 2 Core

Shell 2 Core, 1F Air Purification Room
--------------------------------------

-Log into the NODE and head for the elevator
-Go to B1

Shell 2 Core, B1 Filtration Chamber No.1
----------------------------------------

-Log into the NODE
-Go into the water and swim down the long corridor
-Grab the NIKITA at the end of the corridor
-Head back to 1F

Shell 2 Core, 1F Air Purification Room

-Head to the room with the 2 gun cameras and take them out
-Stand on the crate and look forward
-You will see a vent that takes the missile directly into the room
-Send the Nikita into the box like thing with the word Danger on it
-Collect any items
-Head into the room
-Watch the cinema
-Head back to B1

Shell 2 Core, B1 Filtration Chamber No.1
----------------------------------------

-Make your way to the very bottom of this area
-Watch out for mines!
-Open turnhandle
-Make your way through the rubble
-Collect any items
-Go up the stairs and through the door at the end

-USE THE SUPER STINGER CHEAT
-Right at the beginning move to the edge of the pool, and pummel him with
missiles
-Works every time, and no damage to yourself
-But make sure you have plenty of Stinger Missiles

-After the battle go through the door and into the water
-Make your way to Emma's area
-Be sure to grap the B.Armor
-It's in the corridor parrarel to the corridor leading to the steps to Emma
-Go to Emma's room
-Log into the NODE
-Collect the items in the open lockers
-Open Emma's Locker
-Watch the Cinema
-Swim to VAMPS arena
-Collect items and MINES
-Get to 1F

-Leave Emma in the elevator and take out the guards in the area
-Go back,take her hand, and take out each new guard that appears
-Head out to the bridge

K/L Connecting Bridge

-First,take out all cyphers hovering the bridge with the PSG1
-Go up the bridge and take out the oncoming guard
-Estinquish the fire with the COOLANT
-Head to the door

Strut L
-------

-First,take out both guards
-Then,take Emma's hand and open the door to the south
-Open the hatch and go down the ladder

-----------------
Strut L Oil Fence
-----------------

-Equip the Thermal Goggles and shoot all the claymores in Emma's way
-Save atleast 1 pentazizim (you'll know why later)
-Keep destroying Cyphers and guards until Snake calls you
-Immediatly call Snake after the conversation and he will shoot the rest for
you
-All you have to do now is aim with the PSG1 and Snake will shoot
-When Vamp appears,Zoom in, take a pentazizim and shoot his head reapeatedly
-Don't worry about hitting Emma a couple of times
-When done, go out the door leading to the Parcel Room

Strut E Parcel Room
-------------------

-Go up the steps,avoid the guard, and go out to the E/F bridge

E/F Connecting Bridge
---------------------

-From here, either destroy the cyphers or throw a chaff
-Watch out for the holes in the bridge
-Then,go into the Shell 1 Core

-All you have to do is go into the elevator
-Watch extremely long cinema

Arsenal Gear - Stomach
----------------------

-After being released,grab the medicine in the locker and leave the room
-In this room, Log into the NODE. Leave

Arsenal Gear - Jejunum
----------------------

-Wait till the guard isn't looking and head up the stairs to the east
-Cross the little bridge thing and grab the BOX
-Keep moving up with the BOX equiped. Stay still when a camera scans over
you
-When the camera is off you, cross the little bridge and jump the gap
-Avoid the other camera & guard and go down the corridor through the door

Arsenal Gear - Ascending Colon

-All you do here is answer calls until the cut scene comes
-Grab the ration at the end of the corridor
-Watch the Cinema

Arsenal Gear - Jejunum
----------------------

-Alright, It's another good old fashioned gunfight
-Shoot or blade everyone with the help of snake
-Cover and shoot, that's the key

Arsenal Gear - Sigmoid Colon
----------------------------

-Another gun/blade fight
-Snake does most of the work this time
-Just use your blade or hold L1 and shoot a rapid fire gun

Tips

-Throw Chaffs to confuse the Rays
-Aim for the LEG then the HEAD for Big damage!
-Dodge Horizantal missiles by cartwheeling at the last second
-Dodge Vertical missiles by running like hell
-Jump over the machine gun attack
-Have the Body Armor equiped
-PATIENCE IS THE KEY!
