OCT 28, 2001 - v0.1 - First version of the FAQ - more to come! :)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------II. INTRODUCTION--------------------------------

+++A. WARNING!+++

THIS FAQ CONTAINS AT THE VERY LEAST, A FEW SPOILERS. IF YOU'RE THE
TYPE THAT LIKES TO FIND THINGS OUT FOR YOURSELF, I SUGGEST YOU READ NO FURTHER.
ALTHOUGH WHAT DID YOU EXPECT FROM A "SECRETS" GUIDE ANYWAY??? :P

+++B. GTA3+++

Grand Theft Auto 3 is the most incredible game I've ever played. Its got a
great plot, an awesome cast of characters, and most importantly its so much fun
to play that its downright addicitve! In short - if you have a PS2 and don't
own this game, YOU SHOULD.

This FAQ covers the many, many secrets in this game. It is not intended to be
used for any other purpose, such as a walkthrough. If you have questions
concerning the SECRETS of the game, I'll be happy to answer them, but please
DO NOT email me about any of the "normal" missions in the game - I will not
respond to you.

+++C. BLAHBLAHBLAH+++

Well, this is just my space to go on and on about how hard writing this FAQ
has been... there's not really much point in doing this, but I felt like it -
just to relieve some stress from my life. Its good stress, don't get me wrong,
but its still stressful. Um... yeah. I guess that's about it. Just needed to say
that. Its been fun, but I'm not sure I have very many updates left before I'm
done with this sucker... but we'll see. Look for new FAQs by me in the future -
There's pleanty of great games out there to write about... its just a matter of
picking the right one, I guess. Yeah... that was deeeeeep. Whatever. :P

+++D. HEY YOU+++

Yeah you! The one reading this crap. You know something I don't? Don't lie. I
know you at least *think* you know more than me. ;) Anyway, if you have any
tips or tricks or secrets that belong in this FAQ, then by all means, EMAIL
THEM TO ME so that I can include them.

You will, of course, be credited for you contribution and recieve a big fat
check and lots of GTA3 hookers as a reward... JUST KIDDING. But I really will
credit you. :)

Thanks for reading this, now on with the FAQ!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------III. SECRETS!----------------------------------

+++A. THE HOOKER TRICK+++

-What to do-

If you're low on health (or just want to have some fun :P) you can pull up next
to any of the many hookers wandering around Liberty City. (they're wearing
skimpy pink or brown outfits) She will walk up your window and talk to you for
a few seconds before getting in the car with you.

Take the broad out to some place that's dark and secluded (an alley, your
hideout, in the middle of some trees) and watch the magic begin. Your vehicle
will start to rock and you'll gain health. This trick can take you up to a max
of 125 health points. Eventually the hooker will finish up (the rocking will
speed up really fast and then stop suddenly) and get out of the car.

Be warned, though - hookers cost money. As long as she's with you in the car -
even if she's not "working" - you'll notice that you lose about one dollar per
second. Its really no big deal though, since you can just hop out of the car
when she's done and beat your money right back out of her. ;)

One final word about picking up hookers: you must have the right kind of car to
get her to ride with you. Generally, they'll shy away from cop cars, taxis, and
vans, so make sure you're not using one of those vehicles.

-Try This!-
If you pick up a hooker in ANY convertable car (a Banshee, Stinger with the top
down, etc.) and drive to a secluded area, you will INSTANTLY gain 125 health
and she will get out. This saves your time and money, so its worth finding a
convertable if you're in a hurry and need lots of health quick.

+++B. TAXI MISSIONS+++

-What to do-

Jack a Taxi or Cabbie car, and push the right analog stick (R3) to begin the
Taxi missions. Passengers have blue arrows above their heads, and will appear
as green dots on your radar, so drive up to the closest one and stop so they
can hop in.

Next they'll tell you where they want to go and you'll have a certain amount of
time to take them there. The time appears underneath your wanted level and the
destination will appear as a pink dot on your radar.

Stop at the blue marker when you reach the destination to let the passenger
out and you'll get paid. Then move on to the next closest passenger on your
radar.

NOTE that if you exit the Taxi/Cabbie during a mission, it will end.

-Why bother?-

You can make some spare change (anywhere from $100-$500 per fare) from being a
cabbie. Also, whenever you deliver 100 passengers successfully, a new kind of
taxi, the Borgnine Taxi, becomes available in Harwood in the parking lot of
HEAD Radio Station.

NOTES: Time is cumulitive (but only effects how much time you have left
between passenger) Also, if you do anything too insane while in your taxi and
come to stop soon after, the passenger will flee (even if the taxi is upright
and fit to continue).

+++C. AMBULANCE MISSIONS+++

-What to do-

Jack an ambulance and push the right analog stick (R3) to begin the Ambulance
missions. Patients have blue arrows above their heads (just like Taxi
passengers) and appear as pink dots on your radar.

Stop at the closest patient and let them get in, then you'll have a certain
amount of time (which appears below the wanted level) to drive them AS
CAREFULLY AS POSSIBLE to the hospital (which will also appear as a pink dot on
your radar). If the ride is too rough, then the patient may die before you
reach your destination (which defeats the purpose).

You can use the Ambulance siren by pressing the left analog stick (L3) and
hopefully some of the nicer citizens of Liberty City will get out of your way.

Ambulance missions are measured in levels, so the higher the level, the more
patients you have to pick up each time. Your time limit is increased for each
patient you pick up along the way.

NOTE that if you exit the Ambulance during a mission, it will end.

-Why bother?-

After you save 50 patients, some Health power-ups will be added to your
hideout. After saving 100 patients, an Adrenaline pill will be added to your
hideout. If you manage to complete Ambulance Level 12, then Infinite Run is
enabled for your character - so you don't ever have to slow down! :)

NOTES: The Ambulance can only pick up passengers on the right hand side so
when going to stop for some one, precious time can be saved by pulling up on
the correct side of the injured. Time is cumulitive where time gained on the
last trip can be lost on the next. Obviously, speed is very important.

+++D. FIRE TRUCK MISSIONS+++

-What to do-

Jack a Fire Truck, then press the right analog stick (R3) to begin the Fire
Truck missions. You'll have a set amount of time (which appears below your
wanted level) to find the fire and extinguish it with the fire hose by pessing
the O (circle) button. The fires are marked as red dots on your radar, and you
will always find a burning vehicle at these locations.

Push the left analog stick (L3) to turn on the siren and it may persuade some
of the nicer citizens to stay out of your way. After you extinguish one fire,
move on to the next one.

NOTE that if you exit the Fire Truck during a mission, it will end.

-Why bother?-

For each consecutive fire you extinguish, you will earn double the money! After
you extinguish about 20 fires in each area of town (Portland, Staunton Island,
and Shoreside Vale -- approximately 60 fires total) the mighty Flame-thrower
will appear at your hidout! Yippee!

NOTE: you CANNOT unlock the hideout Flame-thrower by any other means.
(ex - hidden packages)

NOTES: Its a good idea to stay around 2-3 car lengths away from burning
wreckage to avoid blowing up and it's also easier to get the water on its
target. Aim for any part of the car, you don't have to hit the fire itself.

-Station Locations-

PORTLAND: Coming south out of the Porter tunnel that connects to Staunton
Island, take your first left and you should see it.

STAUNTON ISLAND: On the EAST highway running along the shoreline with Shoreside
Vale on the other side.

SHORESIDE VALE: Head down the road that leads toward the back of the airport.
There is a Fire Truck to your left, right accross from the airport parking lot
with the access gates.

+++E. VIGILANTE (LAW ENFORCEMENT) MISSIONS+++

-What to do-

Jack a Police Car, FBI Car, Enforcer, or the Rhino (some of those are
definately harder to get than others...) and press the right analog stick (R3)
to begin the Vigilante missions. You'll have a set amount of time (which
appears below your wanted level) to find criminals and kill them. Criminals
will appear as green dots on your radar.

Chase down the bad guys and do whatever it takes to either make them stop the
vehicle or blow it up. If they manage to exit the vehicle, you can choose to
get out and put some holes in them, or run them over - either way, you'll get
some money for each one you kill.

If by some act of God you end up with the Rhino (the tank) you can push the O
(circle) button to fire the gun turret and use the right analog stick to spin
and aim it. Firing the turret behind multiple times will give you a big boost
of speed.

As with all emergency vehicles, if you have a siren, you can use it by pressing
the left analog stick (L1) and the smarter citizens will clear a path for you.

NOTES: Driving the Rhino around in Vigilante mode (flying through the city)
will attract lots of police attention and will ultimately get in your way by
the time you're up to your 3rd or 4th star, but its also a lot more fun that
way, and some people actually prefer it.

-Why bother?-

After killing about 40 criminals in any one of three areas (Portland, Staunton
Island, and Shoreside Vale -- that's 120 criminals total) you'll recieve two
Police Bribe powerups to lower your wanted level at each of your Hideouts.

+++F. EMERGENCY VEHICLE CRANE+++

-What to do-

At some point in the game you recieve a page that a certain crane in Portland
Harbor will pick up any emergency vehicles and give you some cash.

The vehicles needed are:

- Ambulance: Easily found at any of the Hopitals, or if you want to make one
come to you, just beat/maim/shoot some innocent bystanders and one will come
rollin' 'round the corner soon enough.

- Fire-Truck: Easily found at any of the Fire Stations, or (as with the
Ambulance) you can get one to come to you by blowing up lots of cars with
grenades, molotovs, flamethrower, or the rocket launcher.

- Police Car: Easily found ANYWHERE. :P Just look for them. Seriously. You'll
find them... or they'll find you.

- Enforcer: Its a SWAT vehicle that resembles a big bus.

Fairly easy to find at the Staunton Island Police Station. Get into one of
the normal Police Cars in the area and head through the fence that leads
around to the back of the station.

Most of you will find this easier than the alternative - get up to FOUR stars
by blowing up cars and killing lots of cops and then jack an Enforcer once
the SWAT team comes after you - easier said than done!

- Barracks OL: Its an ARMY vehicle that has a flat bed in the back and also
somewhat resembles a bus. A similar-looking civillian vehicle is the Flatbed.
The Barracks OL is easier to handle than the Rhino, but not quite as durable.

An easy way to find one of these bad boys is while on Staunton Island, head
just northeast of the collesium. There you'll find a road leading off the
highway to a bunch of camoflage painted buildings. This is Phil's Army
Surplus store. (You'll be lead to go here in the "Arms Shortage" Mission
given to you by Ray Machowski... funny name since Phil has only one arm...
ARMs shortage... hehe... okay, whatever :P)

Anyway, go around behind the northeastern-most building and then head south
back towards the road. You should be able to see the Barracks OL. Hop in and
ride straight out through the gate.

Again - this is a easier than the alternative - getting up to SIX stars and
so the Army will come after you, and then jacking one of the Barracks OL's...
I've never been that brave. If you are then kudos to you. :) NOTE: You CAN
NOT get SIX stars until *AFTER* you complete the "Grand Theft Aero" mission
(its the first Shoreside Vale mission) for Donald Love.

- Rhino: Its a big fat friggin' tank. It is bullet proof and EXTREMELY durable
vehicle in the game, but its also one of the slowest.

The "simple" way to get a tank is not really that simple. You must complete
the last major mission of the game, "Exchange" (which is a pretty darn touch
mission)and then save the game. Once you've done this, head on over to Phil's
Army Surplus store where you found the Barracks OL. The tank will be unlocked
and you can take off with it without fear of any law enforcement coming after
you.

...but that's for sissies. ;) the alternative is pure hell - get up to SIX
stars (which BTW, is an incredible feat in itself!) and jack one once the
army comes after you. God have mercy on us all - it'll be a looooooong nite!
:) NOTE: You CAN NOT get SIX stars until *AFTER* you complete the "Grand
Theft Aero" mission (its the first Shoreside Vale mission) for Donald Love.

For more in depth strategy on obtaining the Rhino, using the SIX stars
method, check out Matthew Rorie's RHINO TANK FAQ on www.gamefaqs.com - Its
chock full of great strategy that'll help get you well on your way to taming
the Rhino!

- FBI Car: Um... Its an FBI Car. :P Looks simliar to a Kuruma with a black
paint job and a blue light in the front window for the siren. I've never
found any by themselves or just driving around on the streets...

So guess what? You'll have to get up to FIVE (whew! only five!) stars to get
the FBI boys to start coming after you in their nice little cars. Careful,
though - they're a tough bunch of mofos and you can get killed VERY easily if
you don't get them before they get you!

Okay, you know what they are and how to find them... Now drive the stolen
vehicles to the ship closest to Portland Beach at the Portland Docks. You'll
find the hanging crane near a stack of storage containers beside the ship. Pull
your vehicle under the magnet and step out, then watch the magnet take it away.

-Why bother?-

Well, you get $1,500 per vehicle for starters. Then, after you've delivered all
seven vehicles, you'll recieve $200,000 as well as seven GTA3 pick-ups for each
of the vehicles collected! You may return to these GTA3 pick-ups at any time to
order the vehicle of your choice and the crane will pick it up and drop it off
in front of you - AWESOME! (now you can easily get a tank ANY TIME YOU WANT!)

+++G. INDUSTRIAL IMPORT/EXPORT GARAGE+++

-What to do-

At some point in the game you recieve a page about a certain garage in Portalnd
Harbor that will give you cash for specific vehicles.

To get to the garage, enter the harbor from the road and proceed left through
the parking lot with a few cars. You'll reach a narrow alley that branches
immediately to the left, so cut left. Proceed through the alley and then take a
right when you exit and you'll see a two toned blue garage door with a list
posted to the left of it - this is where you park your cars!

The vehicles listed are:

- Securicar: An armored car that can be found on the streets of PORTLAND and
STAUNTON ISLAND. Best way to quickly locate on is to enter the Vigilante or
Fire Truck missions, and it'll show up as one of the vehicles being used as a
getaway car, or one of the vehicles on fire.

- Moonbeam: Circle-shaped Van found on the streets of any area of Liberty City.
There's one easily found in the parking lot of Head Radio in PORTLAND.

- Coach: A big tour bus-type vehicle. Found on the streets of PORTLAND.

- Flatbed: A big tough flabed truck. Found on the streets of STAUNTON ISLAND.

- Linerunner: An 18 Wheeler-type vehicle. Found many places, but the easiest is
the Portland docks. When you're in the parking lot on your way to the actual
drop off garage, take a right instead of a left and you'll see it ahead of
you.

- Trashmaster: A Garbage truck. Best way to quickly locate on is to enter the
Vigilante or Fire Truck missions, and it'll show up as one of the vehicles
being used as a getaway car, or one of the vehicles on fire.

- Patriot: A Hummer-type vehicle. Find one virtually anywhere in Liberty City.

- Mr. Whoopee: An Ice Cream truck. As with the Trashmaster, try entering the
Vigilante or Fire Truck missions, and it'll show up as one of the vehicles
being used as a getaway car, or one of the vehicles on fire.

- Blista: A Toyota Tarago-type family wagon/van. Found on the streets of
STAUNTON ISLAND and SHORESIDE VALE.

- Mule: Commercial Truck. Found on the streets of PORTLAND and STAUNTON ISLAND.

- Yankee: Similar to the Mule. Found on the streets of PORTLAND and STAUNTON
ISLAND.

- Bobcat: Small Pick Up Truck. Found on the streets of PORTLAND and STAUNTON
ISLAND.

- Dodo: An airplane with clipped wings. It becomes avaialbe when you start
taking jobs from Donald Love. Found in SHORESIDE VALE's Airport during the
"Grand Theft Aero" mission.

- Bus: A school bus-type vehicle. Found on the streets of STAUNTON ISLAND.

- Rumpo: A Commercial Van. Found on the streets of STAUNTON ISLAND and
SHORESIDE VALE.

- Pony: Box-shaped van. Find one virtually anywhere in Liberty City.

-Why bother?-

If you manage to find and deliver all the vehicles on the list, you'll get
$200,000 as well as 16 (count 'em - SIXTEEN!) GTA3 pick-ups for each of the
vehicles collected. Then you can get any one of these cars by walking into the
icon for use on any of your missions! COOL!

+++H. SUBURBAN IMPORT/EXPORT GARAGE+++

-What to do-

Same situation as in Portland, only this garage is located in Shoreside Vale.
Its on a corner in Cochrane Dam between the upper road along the dam and the
bridge that takes you to Cedar Grove. Its part of the Fudge Packing Corp and
the car list is posted to the left of a red rust colored garage door.

The vehicles you need are:

- Sentinal: A sedan-type vehicle. Its the normal version of the Mafia Sentinal.
Found on the streets of SHORESIDE VALE.

- Cheetah: A Sports Car, Coupe. The rear looks like a ferrari F360 while the
front looks a bit like a Camaro. Found on the streets of STAUNTON ISLAND and
SHORESIDE VALE.

- Banshee: A Convertible Dodge Viper-type Sports Coupe. Find one virtually
anywhere in Liberty City. There's one behind the glass showcase at Easy Credit
Autos in PORTLAND.

- Stinger: A Sports Car, Coupe. Its the normal version of a Yakuza Stinger.
Found on the streets of STAUNTON ISLAND and SHORESIDE VALE.

- Infernus: Closely resembles the Cheetah, but its faster. Found on the streets
of STAUNTON ISLAND and SHORESIDE VALE.

- Esperanto: Large sedan. Very long. Resembles a Cadillac El Dorado. Find one
virtually anywhere in Liberty City.

- Kuruma: A family sedan. Resembles a Ford Taurus. Find one virtually anywhere
in Liberty City.

- Stretch: A limousine. Found on the streets of STAUNTON ISLAND and SHORESIDE
VALE.

- Perennial: An ugly station-wagon vehicle. Find one virtually anywhere in
Liberty City.

- Landstalker: An SUV-type vehicle. Found on the streets of STAUNTON ISLAND
and SHORESIDE VALE.

- Manana: A small two-door sedan. Found on the streets of STAUNTON ISLAND
and SHORESIDE VALE.

- Idaho: Resembles and older Oldsmobile. Find one virtually anywhere in
Liberty City.

- Stallion: Mustang-type vehicle. Find one virtually anywhere in Liberty City.

- Taxi: A yellow taxi (DUH) Find one virtually anywhere in Liberty City.

- Cabbie: An "older" style yellow taxi. Almost always found wherever you see
regualr taxis.

- BF injection: Special car made by Joey Leone. You can find it (after
completing the first Staunton Island mission - "Sayonara Salvatore") at
Misty's Flat in Hepburn Heights (Portland) near the El Burro phone in the
park between 22:00 and 5:00 on the game's clock.

-Why bother?=
Once you've delivered all the cars on the list you get another $200,000 as well
as 16 additional GTA3 pickups for every car collected! WHOO-HOO!

+++I. SECURICAR GARAGE+++

Thanks to Bryce for this information. :)

-What to do-

In PORTLAND, beside the import/export building, there's another garage to get
money from. Right when you're entering the docks area, you'll see three cars
parked one of which being the kuruma. Behind that kuruma you'll see a series
of blue, numbered garages. The second one isn't numbered. If you drive a
Securicar in there you'll recieve $50000 the first time, and $5000 less than
the time before on subsequent deliveries.

-Why bother?-

Well the money's always nice... I mean what else is there, anyway? :P

+++J. RC TOYZ MISSIONS+++

-Details, details...-

This isn't really a secret, but its obscure enough that I think alot of people
will miss it and its fun enough that I really want to include it in my FAQ,
soooooooo...

Scattered around Liberty City are these blue vans with a white "RC TOYZ" logo
painted on them. Once you enter, each van will allow you to control a small
remote control vehicle that's rigged with an explosive. For those of you who
can't seem to grasp where this is going, I'll make it simple - you get to blow
the crap out of A LOT of vehicles for $$$! YAY!

-CONTROLS-
Controlling the toy cars is no different than any other vehicle in the
game. (except they're smaller) You can only control one car at a time.
Press the O (circle) button to detonate the car whenever its close to its
target. Whether you hit or miss, another RC car will appear next to your
TOYZ van, ready for more action, just as long as you still have time on
the clock. (which appears under you wanted level.)

1. MAFIA MASSACRE

color.

Objective: Destroy as many Hoods Rumpo XLs as you can in TWO minutes.
You'll recieve $1,000 for each one you destroy.

+++K. 4X4 MISSIONS+++

-Details, details...-

This also isn't really a secret, but its another one of those side missions
that people might wanna try, but may never find.

You'll find various 4X4 vehicles such as the Patriot or the Landstalker, all
over Liberty City. There are only FOUR vehicles that will allow you to test
your driving skills as you race against time to gather all the checkpoints.
In each of the FOUR vehicles, you are given a specific amount of time which
doesn't begin until you pass through the very first checkpoint. Checkpoints
may be collected in any order, you just need to collect all of them. For
completing each one of these 4X4 missions you'll recieve a cool $30,000!

1. PATRIOT PLAYGROUND
Location: PORTLAND, look for a Patriot in the parking lot of the
"Supa Save!" Grocery Store in Portland View.

Objective: You'll have FIVE minutes total to collect FIFTEEN checkpoints.
Each checkpoint adds TWENTY seconds to your clock.

2. A RIDE IN THE PARK
Location: STAUNTON ISLAND, look for a Landstalker in the actual park
area of Belleville Park, near the cottage.

Objective: You'll have TWO minutes to collect TWELVE checkpoints. Each
checkpoint adds TEN seconds to your clock.

3. MULTI-STORY MAYHEM
Location: STAUNTON ISLAND, park any Stallion just outside of the parking
garage in Newport, then exit and re-enter the vehicle again.

Objective: You'll have TWO minutes total to collect TWENTY
checkpoints. There are FOUR checkpoints on each level. The
final checkpoint is just beyond the ramp in the corer of
the top level. You must build up enough speed to grab it!

4. GRIPPED!
Location: SHORESIDE VALE, From your hideout, head northeast until you
come to a dirt road. Follow the dirt road and climb on in
when you find the Patriot.

Objective: You'll have FIVE minutes to collect TWENTY checkpoints.
Each checkpoint adds FIFTEEN seconds to your clock.

+++L. FLYING THE DODO+++

Credit goes out to Tero Civill for this entire section - thanks. :)

- What to do-

In the Airport, use the runway to speed up Dodo, push forward with the
left analog stick and wait until it sort of curtseys :) (I mean if you
look from the side view, you can see how the front tyre goes deeper inside
the plane). Anyway; accelerate for a while, and when it does this, release
the left analog and VERY slowly pull it backwards. The wings should take air
and if you can keep the right position, it will fly quite a distance. But it
is hard. Very hard.

- More information from Sam Kass -

Thought I'd drop a note about flying the dodo. It really flies-- my longest
flight so far is 711 seconds (no typo-- over 10 minutes). To do this, start
out like you describe... accelerate down the runway with very slight forward
pressure until the plane starts to bounce and doesn't want to stay on the
ground anymore. Then let the stick back to neutral and the plane will soar
into the air. At this point, it acts more or less like a real plane (with
clipped wings, no less.) In particular, most people think of a plane's stick
as the control for going higher or lower, but it's really not-- it's really
the speed control. Pushing forward speeds the plane up, and pulling back
slows it down. The plane in Grand Theft Auto 3 is the same way. The goal is
to keep the plane above stall speed (the speed at which the wings stop
generating lift and the plane falls out of the sky.) This basically means
that it's your goal to conserve speed and push forward whenever the nose gets
too high. You should almost never be pulling back. And also, turn very,
very gently, because a plane's stall speed increases during a bank-- another
aspect of flying that the game seems to simulate more or less accurately.
It even seems to do a rudimentary lift calculation for each wing, because
I got it into a spin once that was very realistic.
So once you're up in the air, the plane will swoop a little... try to dampen
the swoops by preventing the plane from reaching the peak of any swoop
(let it nose down pretty much whenever it wants, though.) Eventually the
plane will level off and you can fly around the islands. Even meet up with
the other Cessna that's up there near north Portland. Don't hit anything,
and don't stall, and you can fly indefinitely. (oh, except for one bug--
if you fly directly over any unique jump, it'll pop to the cut scene and
your plane will quickly fly out of scene-- but the cut scene doesn't go
away until you crash, so you can't fly anymore.)

- ...and even more from Josh Farkas -

One real quick note about the dodo and flying. When you screw with the nose
level of your plane you lose it everytime-or you send your plane up quickly
and fly down quicker. This causes death. You can easily fly virtually for
eternity though, here is how.

1) keep your plane down the center at all times continually correcting the
angle.

2) Start out at the farthest point of the runway. Backup until half of the
plane is off the edge. Hold R1 and gas to get the engine floored. Go like a
madman.

3) Keep it going until off the edge. By this point you'll have enough energy
to go on your own speed. Don't steer or adjust height.

The secret ingredient to go virtually forever is really simple. When you try
the above steps you'll no doubt be facing the buildings and slam into the
freeway. The trick is to have your back to these buildings and fly out into
the sea. My record is 40 seconds because I tried to turn. On an interesting
side note about a minute into doing this your plane will disappear and
shortly after the game will crash. You could fly forever if the damn game
didn't freeze on ya.

NOTE: DO NOT EMAIL ME ANYTHING ELSE ABOUT THE FLYING THE DODO. These nice
people have covered just about every aspect of it.

-Why bother?-

Well, cuz its fun, I guess. Why else would you wanna mess with the Dodo?

+++M. STORE MORE CARS IN YOUR GARAGE+++

-What to do-

This trick can only be done on STAUNTON ISLAND and SHORESIDE VALE. All you
have to do is park a car halfway in and halfway out of the garage and pack
as many cars as you can into the garage so that it still closes. Try
stacking cars on top of each other to get more space cleared up. Using
this method, you can fit up to six cars - maybe more, I haven't really
tried - in your STAUNTON ISLAND garage!

-Why bother?-

This is a nice trick to know in case you want to save several rare cars all
at once in one of your big garages.

+++N. SECRET VEHICLES+++

-Details, details...-

After reading several emails about some very rare and hard to find vehicles in
the game, so I have included those new discoveries here along with the BF
Injection and the BP Patriot, since they fall in the same category.

Have fun. :)

1. BULLET PROOF PATRIOT

-What to do-

The BP Patriot is inside of Ray Machowski's (he's the crooked cop that
works for Asuka) lock up, which is located in Newport on Staunto Island.
Ray will give you the key after you complete a certain mission for him.
In addition to the Patriot, you'll find a Flame-thrower, Rocket Launcher,
Sniper Rifle, and $20,000! You'll only be able to pick up these items
ONCE, so when you unlock the BP Patriot, BE SURE TO DRIVE IT STRAIGHT TO
YOUR HIDEOUT AND SAVE THE GAME! NOTE: You'll probably want to put it in
either your PORTLAND or SHORESIDE VALE garage, since you'll probably want
to use your STAUNTON ISLAND garage for a Rhino.

-Why bother?-

(Well DUH!) You get a bunch of cool weapons and one of the few bullet
proof vehicles in the game!

2. BULLET PROOF PATRIOT

-What to do-

After you complete the "Sayonara Salvatore" mission, (the first mission
on Staunton Island) a new vehicle will become available at Misty's Flat
in Hepburn Heights (Portland) near the El Burro phone in the park
between 22:00 and 5:00 on the game's clock.. Afterwards they'll randomly
appear just like any other vehicle in the game.

-Why bother?-

Well, since you'll eventually have to complete the mission anyway (at
least, if you're trying to beat the game) then there's no real reason
not to unlock the BF Injection. It handles pretty well and has decent
speed. Overall a nice addition to your garage. :)

3. PITCH BLACK LIMO (thanks to FLiPNiNeX3)

-What to do-

The Pitch Black Limo is only available in the Mafia Missions you do for
Tony Cipriani.

-Why bother?-

If you're really into limos, you might want to save it because you'll
only have two chances to get it. (One for each mission.)

4. BULLET PROOF SECURICAR (thanks to FLiPNiNeX3)

-What to do-

During the "Van Heist" Mission for Joey Leone, you jack a Bullet Proof
Securicar. This is the only time it is made available to you.

-Why bother?-

If you want another Bullet Proof Vehicle, here ya go.

5. BULLET PROOF CHEETAH (thanks to Evil Stallion)

-What to do-

During the "Turismo" Mission for El Burro, eventually, each one of the
cars you race against is a bullet proof cheetah. Flip one of the
Cheetahs with your car and stand near it, (never letting it leave your
sight) until you fail the mission when time runs out. When you fail, the
driver will exit the vehicle and run off. Don't try to jack it because
the doors will still be locked. Take your vehicle and push it back to your
hideout. (The best route is to go opposite the starting direction of the
race and down the street and through the alleyway to the Red Light
District with the Police Bribe in it.) I've found it car is easier to push
and control when it's on its roof. So try to keep it on its roof for the
duration of the trip. Once you get it to the hideout, get it on its wheels
and shove it in the garage and save your game!

-Why bother?-

Uh, Bullet Proof? Cheetah? Haven't I made myself clear enough already?!

+++O. RUMORS, HOAXES, & FAQs+++

Time to dispell some of the silly rumors and other crap floating around the
net about GTA3 - so here goes...

- You CANNOT get to the Observatory, the Collesium, or the Lighthouse.

- There is no nudity in the game.

- There is no special ray gun that you can get that freezes enemies or that
stops time while you run around free. The closest you can come to this is
the drug pill.

- You CANNOT jack a REAL plane like the ones you see at the airport in
SHORESIDE VALE, nor can you jack a large boat like the ones seen at the
harbour in PORTLAND.

+++P. CHEAT CODES+++

!!!BEFORE YOU READ FURTHER!!!
Certain cheats (particularly those involving pedestrians) CANNOT, to my
knowledge be undone once you enter them. The only way to get rid of them once
you enter them is to either reset your console or reload a previously saved
game. DO NOT SAVE THE GAME WITH THE CHEATS ON. You will be stuck with them if
you do. The best advice is to just play it safe and only cheat for fun, not
to advance the game. You have been warned. I AM NOT LIABLE FOR ANYTHING THAT
HAPPENS TO YOUR GAME AS A RESULT OF USING THESE CODES, SO DON'T EMAIL ME ABOUT
IT IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG!

Let me just say that I don't like cheating - I only used these codes to
confirm that they worked - I didn't save anything I got from them.

However, since they are secrets, they belong in this FAQ. But I urge you hold
off on cheating if you want to get the most out of your game - you'll get
more satisfaction and enjoyment if you beat it without these codes.

Trust me. :)

There, I'm off my soap box, hope I didn't offend anyone...

Hey! put that rocket launcher away...

D - DOWN
U - UP
L - LEFT
R - RIGHT
T - TRIANGLE
C - CIRCLE
S - SQUARE

NOTE: Enter the cheats at any time during gameplay, (Not while paused)
using the D-Pad (Not the Analog Stick)

LOWER WANTED LEVEL - Decreases your wanted level to ZERO stars.
R2, R2, L1, R2, U, D, U, D, U, D

HIGHER WANTED LEVEL - Increases your wanted level by TWO stars each time you
enter the code. NOTE: You CAN NOT get SIX stars when using this cheat until
*AFTER* you complete the "Grand Theft Aero" mission (its the first Shoreside
Vale mission) for Donald Love.
R2, R2, L1, R2, L, R, L, R, L, R

CLEAR WEATHER CHEAT - Makes the weather turn clear and sunny.
L1, L2, R1, R2, R2, R1, L2, T, L1, L2,

FOG WEATHER CHEAT - Makes the weather turn foggy.
R1, R2, R2, R1, L2, X

CLOUDY WEATHER CHEAT - Makes the weather turn cloudy.
L1, L2, R1, R2, R2, R1, L2, S

RAINY WEATHER CHEAT - Makes the weather turn rainy.
L1, L2, R1, R2, R2, R1, L2, C

TANK CHEAT - Makes a tank drop from the sky... don't use this to get your
tank, unless you're just a big wiener - its waaaaay more fun to get your tank
via the SIX stars method - plus you get a real sense of accomplishment once
you've done it since its so difficult to do.
C, C, C, C, C, C, R1, L2, L1, T, C, T

FASTER GAME CLOCK CHEAT - Speeds up the game clock. (Days will pass quicker.)
C, C, C, S, S, S, S, S, L1, T, C, T

NEW CHARACTER COSTUME CHEAT - This will change your character into one of the
many many other characters in the game. You may enter the code as many times
as you want to keep changing through characters. Its great for a laugh or two,
but be warned - its VERY DIFFICULT to return to your original character after
the very first time you use this cheat since there are literally hundreds of
characters to cycle through before you randomly end up with your original
character again.
R, D, L, U, L1, L2, U, L, D, R

PEDESTRIANS FIGHT EACH OTHER - Its like "Fight Club" Liberty City style ;)
Lots of fun to watch or even participate in :)
D, U, L, U, X, R1, R2, L2, L1

PEDESTRIANS ATTACK YOU - The pedestrians just don't want you in the city
anymore after you enter this code - they all come after you and try to beat
you down.
D, U, L, U, X, R1, R2, L1, L2

LIBERTY CITY SURVIVOR - "Y'know if more people had guns, there'd be less
shootings in this country." - Laslow of Chatterbox Radio. This is my favorite
code out of all of these. Basically every pedestrian is given some sort of
weapon - grenades, rocket launcher, AK-47, etc and then they attack... well,
anything and anyone in sight - its friggin' awesome! :) This is a fun code
if you want to play "war". You can pick up any of the weapons dropped by
deceased citizens and add them to your arsenal. Sponsored by Ammu-Nation. :D
R2, R1, T, X, L2, L1, U, D

FLYING VEHICLES - With this code enabled, get in any vehicle (preferrably a
fast one) and speed down the road while pulling back on the analog stick to
fly your vehicle in much the same manner as the Dodo... kinda ridiculous, but
still alltogether fun.
R, R2, C, R1, L2, D, L1, R1

GREAT HANDLING CAR - Use this code to make EVERY VEHICLE handle exceptionally
well. You'll never need to use your handbrake again thanks to this code. You
can also make the car "jump" by pressing the Left Analog Stick (L3).
R1, L1, R2, L1, L, R1, R1, T

ALL WEAPONS - Well, what does this code sound like it does?
R2, R2, L1, R2, L, D, R, U, L, D, R, U

MORE MONEY - Um... yeah... more money, duh.
R2, R2, L1, L1, L, D, R, U, L, D, R, U

FULL ARMOR - You get 100% Armor after entering this code.
R2, R2, L1, L2, L, D, R, U, L, D, R, U

FULL HEALTH - You get 100% Health after entering this code.
R2, R2, L1, R1, L, D, R, U, L, D, R, U

BLOW UP ALL CARS - Okay, yet another cheat title that defeats the purpose of
describing these codes...
L2, R2, L1, R1, L2, R2, T, S, C, T, L2, L1

ULTIMATE VIOLENCE - Credit goes to Matt Stover for this description -
Once the code is entered, it allows you to shoot off people's arms, legs, and
heads as well as increasing the overall amount of blood the victims leave
behind.
*NOTE the cheat confirm doesn't show up*
S, L1, C, D, L1, R1, T, R, L1, X

you could deal with your addiction...

* Thanks to my wife, Liz - I love you and I swear I'll come to bed as soon as I
save the game... ;)

* Thanks to BradyGames' Official GTA3 Strategy Guide - although this document
is an origianl work, a great deal of the content was based on information

of it, cuz ALOT of it is the same info, but I appreciate your thoughts and
effort - you've helped make this FAQ a great one!

* Matt Stover and the folks who have (and continue to) email me concerning the
Ultimate Violence Code... NOW FOR GOD'S SAKE STOP IT! :P
