Trawling the web for cheats I found with mounting distress, there
were none!
Therefore I decided to publish my own solutions in order to help
those of you who are just as'unfortunate' in solving those Snickety
puzzles

1.tHe PuZzLe:BILLIARD ROOM WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PICTURES?
----------------------------------------------------

Violet says 'I wonder what all the pictures are for'
Behind each picture is a gage with three different letters,
you need to set a code to make something interesting happen.
Look at the letters you are given on the gages, can you
think of a blindingly obvious word that is likely to be the code?


Its O L A F -set the gages to the letters that spell out OLAF
and watch the bookcase open

2. tHe PuZzLe: IN LIBRARY HOW DO I GET TO THE BALCONY?
--------------------------------------

There are no ladders, staircases or elevators upwards, so you need to
focus on what you see in the room.
Yes, the CHEST OF DRAWERS
Do not bother about what you don't see (missing drawers)
Is there anything around you that hints at a code?
There are books with letters on some shelves
Open ONLY the drawers with these letters on

The letters are D F V - Steps in a nearby bookcase will guide you
upwards

3. tHe PuZzLe: RELEASING THE INPRISONED COOKBOOK
----------------------------------

OK, this may not be entirely correct as my game glitched at this bit
and just released the book without any shape stepping (HURRAH!)
This is what I think you do:

The shapes on the ground must be stepped on in a certain order
to open the bars
Look around for anything that could reveal the COLOUR combination you
need
There are some STAINED GLASS WINDOWS in colours that match the shapes

The WINDOWS have letters of the ALPHABET on them
How is a library organised?
Why in ALPHABETICAL ORDER of course!

Step on the coloured symbols in alphebetical order, according to the
letter on the windowof the same colour.

E.g- the RED window has an A , so RED is the first symbol you press

4. tHe PuZzLe: GETTING OUT OF THE LIBRARY
----------------------------------

After retrieving the cookbook make your way to the ground floor.
To the left of the elevator are some bookcases.
Walk up to the bookcases in this area and one should open up to
Violet and Sunny.

5. tHe PuZzLe: WHERE ARE VIOLET'S INGREDIANTS?
----------------------------------

N.B- I haven't specified which particular cupboard so you must
search in BOTH sections of the kitchen

INGREDIANTS FOUND IN KITCHEN
==============================

GARLIC - FRIDGE

ONION - CUPBOARD
-------

JAR - TOP CUPBOARD

*ANCHOVIES - PANTRY
---------

* Walk to the red door in kitchen with the big crack.
Violet will release Sunny into the room and you must guide her over
boxes, along beams etc. until she finds the tin of anchovies
--------------------------------------------------------------------
* 2x PASTA BARS - CELLAR
--------------

* There is a section of BRICK in the FIREPLACE that looks odd
BREAK it to reveal a LEVER
Pull the lever and now there are steps near the pantry door that
lead down into the cellar
In the cellar there are a lot of barrels behind bars, you need to
get in here
Click the PORTRAIT ON THE WALL to reveal a LEVER
Pull this lever and the bars will open
Break down the barrels and use SUNNY to bite the ropes
You will find 2 lots of PASTA in the cellar



INGREDIANTS NOT FOUND IN KITCHEN
================================

OLIVES
-----------

Leave the kitchen, go past the dining room where Olaf is and exit
through the green double doors. You are in the hall.
Firstly kill those pesky MOSQUITOS

At the bottom of the steps where the moquitos where, notice the
EYE BLOCKS on the floor
STEP ON THEM ALL and a FLOORBOARD will raise from the ground
On each side is a an EYE BUTTON
both open a room so try both of them
The EYE SYMBOL on the RIGHT of the board opens the room where the
OLIVES are

6. tHe PuZzLe: RETRIEVING THE TOMATOES
-----------------------

The tomatoes plants are all dried up, Klaus says he could use the
FOUNTAIN to water them
There are 2 rooms, the one to the LEFT of the fountain is
INACCESSIBLE - the button is broken
Go to the room on the RIGHT and BREAK THE BOXES
to reveal an EYE BUTTON, press it
In this room there is a BOOK that tells you how to set the
fountain gages to make it work
These are the settings:

Open the LARGE WARDROBE and jump down the hole
Kill the crabs and rat then set the fountain gages as shown ,
the fountain will work
Continue following the waterway -do not go back - until you get
to a ladder
You will find yourself in the INACCESSIBLE CELL
The WATERING CAN is in the CUPBOARD

The tomato plants are all around the FOUNTAIN AREA including the
room with the book
Fill the can at the fountain and water the plants, collect the
tomatoes

7. tHe PuZzLe: ESCAPING THE TRAIN
-------------------

You need to pull the various levers and switches in the correct order.
Its easier than it sounds
as the next switch flashes after each is pulled.
A simple diagram of the train levers:

8. tHe PuZzLe: FIRST ESCAPE FROM WOMEN IN FACTORY
----------------------------------

This is your first and not at all last encounter of these irritating
women in the factory
The first woman is throwing turnips at you and whenever you get her
health down to a few bars, you must go up close to her and SMASHER

I IGNORED the woman and just went upto the ELEVATOR PLATFORM to
the RIGHT
Find the LEVER near it and jump on the PLATFORM
Follow the suspended pathway until you meet the SECOND WOMAN
PELT HER until she is stunned if you wish but FOCUS ON GETTING TO
THE DOOR
The door is on the same level as the second woman

9. tHe PuZzLe: ROOM WITH TROLLEYS
--------------------
Not a major puzzle, just a little tricky.
In a room where rubbish is stopping you from getting round there is
a block of trolleys.
KLAUS will stay near this block, hinting that this is a significant
area
There are no levers visible
Look for LEVERS on the CEILING above the trolleys , pull the first
to enter the block
Continuing pulling them until you reach the other end and can
continue your journey

10. tHe PuZzLe: CROSSING THE BLOCKS
--------------------

Just pull the THIRD and the FIRST lever
and you will be able to cross.

11. tHe PuZzLe: SAVING KLAUS AND SUNNY FROM CAGE
--------------------------------

Oh dear, its those dastardly women again!
To defeat them you need to use these things:

* turnips
* onion spray
* bubble gum
* smasher

When they have just a small amount of life left go up close to them
and click, this will activate the SMASHER.
You have to SMASHER each woman TWICE before she will die

Deal with ONE WOMAN at a time

Collect hearts and ammo from the DOORWAY

12. tHe PuZzLe: INVENTING REPTILE RETRIEVER
--------------------------------

Klaus will need to find a RING, a STICK and a BASKET

The RING is found in a small secret room.
To enter it you must pull a LEVER so the SNAKE PICTURE moves upwards.
Press the EYE BUTTON TWICE to open the secret room. Find the RING
within.

To get the BASKET you have to defeat the BALD MAN, use FEATHERS and
TURNIPS

Along the route just after the bald man you will find the STICK



Where is the Bald Man?
----------------------

Go to the room in Uncle Monty's house with the desk and fireplace
where you will see two small white urn-like objects. You are able
to smash one of these white urns revealing a secret passage! Go in
and search around until you come to a part where you climb a table
up to a wall.
After a little more searching you will eventually find the bald man.

13. tHe PuZzLe: SNAKE CHARMING
----------------

Eventually you will come to a room full of baskets with snakes iside.
There is a ladder ascending from the ceiling that you just can't
reach.
You have to charm the snakes so they peak out of their baskets,
providing you with stepping stones.
As you can see there is a rail of SIX BELLS in the room.
When you clang each bell the snakes appear.
IGNORE the RADIO, it is here solely for the purpose of confusion
Clang each bell from LEFT to RIGHT and the snakes will all appear.
Climb the box and jumb on the first basket lid, hopping to each until
you are at the ladder.

14. tHe PuZzLe: DEFEATING THE HOOK-HANDED MAN
-------------------------------

Use ONIONS first, then BUBBLEGUM then FEATHERS.
Remember to hit the guy with the SMASHER when his health is low.
You have to SMASHER him a few times before he dies.

15. tHe PuZzLe: REPTILES IN THE HOUSE
-------------------------

Snakes can be located in the area were the hook-handed man was.
The tricky yellow snake is usually near the fireplace, keep your eyes
open!

16. tHe PuZzLe: REPTILES IN THE GARDEN
-------------------------


Here is the general location of the reptiles in order of when you
meet them:

1 lizard - garden between gates
1 snake - through gate that opens
1 snake - through oiled gate, paved area
1 snake - garden after patio
2 lizards- next part of route
1 lizard - through brambles in garden with tree in centre
1 snake - " "
1 snake - tiny garden to the left
2 lizards- through wooden gate
2 snakes - continued route near water
1 lizard - past the water
2 snakes - paved area
1 lizard - paved area
2 lizards- gate near save point
1 lizard - on final stepping stone over the water
3 lizard - through the gate near bandstand (?)
1 snake - " "

17. tHe PuZzLe: THE LAST REPTILE
-------------------

The pesky little fella's gone into the tunnel! You'll have to venture
down there and rescue him.

Once in the tunnel go over the black ground.
When you spot a LEVER, reach for it and pull.
Go through the entrance the lever created and continue.
You will meet a rat, annd then the LIZARD.

18. tHe PuZzLe: DEFEATING THE BALD MAN
-----------------------

You should follow these instructions:

BEES , SMASHER
BUBBLEGUM, SMASHER
ONION, SMASHER
TURNIPS, SMASHER

You will need to collect hearts to sustain your misery level

19. tHe PuZzLe: FINDING THE STUFF ON AUNT JOSEPHINE'S LIST
-------------------------------------------

The LIMES are found in the GENERAL STORE by VIOLET and SUNNY

To get the CUCUMBERS guide KLAUS to the circular house with bars on
its to windows
Enter the house through the GROUND-FLOOR WINDOW and there is a SHIPS
STEERING WHEEL
Click the WHEEL and bars will be REMOVED from the top floor and
appear on the ground floor
Use the open window to get out, climb to the top and get the
CUCUMBERS

Go to the small PORT near the circular house and find a
GAP between a boat
Release SUNNY, complete the maze and find the BLANKETS

To kill the bald-man use:

BUBBLEGUM, SMASHER
LIMES, SMASHER
FEATHERS, SMASHER
TURNIPS, SMASHER

20. tHe PuZzLe: FINDING THE BOOKS
-------------------

1.Break a box in the far-RIGHT corner of the room to reveal the code:
IKE
In the next room there ia a PORTRAIT, behind it is a panel
Set the letters to spell IKE and find the
'SPELLING OF EVERY ENGLISH WORD EVER INVENTED'

2. Find the room with the TAPESTRY on the wall and STEERING WHEEL
Use the WHEEL and the door will open, use SUNNY to make the TAPESTRY
FALL
The 'BASIC RULES OF GRAMMER AND PUNCTUATION' is behind the TAPESTRY

3. At a place were the floor has fallen away, notice a small piece of
suspended flooring with a RADIATOR
Jump to the RADIATOR and then jump to the DOOR
Use Sunny to travel through the VENT to the kitchen
In the kitchen there is METAL BENCH get Sunny to bite through it
and climb up, onto the table
Go along the SHELF to pick up the 'APOSTROPHE USE' book

21. tHe PuZzLe: FINDING THE MAP
-------------------

Enter the room that was previously BLOCKED
Follow the route around until you get to a corridor with three doors
Try each door if you wish as there are health hearts and eye statues
In the THIRD room there are a lot of objects falling over the edge,
grab the MAP before it falls

22. tHe PuZzLe: CURDLED CAVE
-------------------

HELPFUL TIPS:
==============
Watch out when breaking boxes as many contain RATS
Mind your head as BATS are present
Look on the ceiling for LEVERS


MAKING THE STILTS
----------------

PADDLE- this involves using the ELEVATORS and STEERING WHEELS
basically just:
PULL the Wheel to draw an ELEVATOR towards you
STEP on the ELEVATOR
PULL the SAME WHEEL to move the ELEVATOR AWAY

STRING- This is located in the room where there is a HOLE IN THE
FLOORBOARDS

FOOT HOLDERS- Near the GREEEN LAKE there is a room where
SUNNY can enter to find these items


SAVING JOSEPHINE
----------------

Jump from BLOCK to BLOCK, always waiting for the block ahead to
sink downwards before jumping
When you reach the non-moving ground , go onto the other moving blocks
Take the lift, cross the bridge and rescue JOSEPHINE

23. tHe PuZzLe: MAKING GRAPPLING HOOK
-----------------------


The UMBERELLA FRAME is found in the room to the right of the hallway
were the first lady is
Go into this closet-type room and break down the BRICK WALL
The UMBERELLA is inside


The RINGS are found on a shower-curtain in a SECRET ROOM
You can spy the rings through a hole in the closet walls
Go into the room with the red door that is close to the closet
On the DESK is an EYE BUTTON, press it to reveal a LEVER behind a
painting
Pull the LEVER and the wall will open allowing you to enter the
secret room

Go UPSTAIRS and open the STAGE-CURTAIN , find the HOOK on the SOFA
Klaus will make the grappling hook

24. tHe PuZzLe: COLLECTING EYE TICKETS
------------------------------



Get the FIRST TICKET from the WHITE-FACED LADY in the HALL , you have
to DEFEAT HER


UPSTAIRS in the room to the RIGHT of the STAGE there is the 2nd
WHITE-FACED LADY
She is harder to kill, keep collecting health hearts whenever your
misery level is low
Once she is dead you will get the SECOND TICKET

The THIRD and final eye ticket is on the purple SOFA, where you
appear once you have made the grappling hook. You must use the
grappling hook to get across to it.

Once all tickets are found report DOWNSTAIRS to the grid with the
EYE BLOCKS
Move the eye blocks to show the pattern of eyes as in the tickets
Here are the positions of the pupil the eyes of each ticket:

25. tHe PuZzLe: ELEVATOR PUZZLE
---------------------


This is what I did in the elevator room:

At ground level pull the LEVER and get on the elevator
Pull the LEVER at the farside of the room near the two elevators
Step on the elevator and wait until it moves automatically
Pull the LEVER AHEAD of you
Pull the LEVER NEXT TO YOU
Pull the LEVER at the RED DOOR
Step on the elevator
Pull the LEVER at the RED DOOR and go through the door



HINT: Beware of odd looking floorboards - they may collapse when you
step on them

26. tHe PuZzLe: BURNING THE MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE
-----------------------------------

Hold the LEFT-MOUSE BUTTON DOWN until you spot the person who is
holding the certificate
In my game this is the order in which the actors hold the certificate:

HOOK-HANDED MAN
BALD MAN
WHITE-FACED LADY
BALD MAN
WHITE-FACED LADY
OLAF

27. tHe PuZzLe: KILLING OLAF
--------------

Olaf will hide behind stage props, PULL the lever on the props to pull
them down

You have to SMASHER him at least THREE times before he is defeated

LOCATIONS OF LETTER CARDS
-------------------------


A-On the beach after the smasher is built, break the door and crate of
the shack.

B-In the house, after defeating the bald man, before picking up the
record look behind the portrait over the unlit fireplace.

C-In the bathroom across from the room the record is in, smash the
white box near the tub.

D-In the library on the 3rd level on the search for the cookbook,
go to the room to you right after cross the "bridge" raise the portrait,
push the switch and the bookcase will slide to the right, climb up and
smash all the things before the lever.

E-This is found before the "D" on the 2nd level of the library on the
search for the cookbook, smash the trunk next to the portrait.

F-On the 3rd level, go all the way to the alcove (ignore the door for now),
then go down the "elevator" and in the room, smash the chair on the left.

G-In the kitchen on the search for the ingredients, climb up on the
rafters,smash the small chest.

H-In the room where the olives are found, go to the alcove without the
couch and smash the vase on the left.

I-In the room where the olives are found, it's in the green hatbox
behind the door opposite the one the olives are found.

J-In the horseradish factory, it will be in the 2nd locker from the left.

K-After Violet gets up to a room in the factory, using the different level
barrel-type devices, go all the way around the room and it will be in a
chest.

L-In the factory, there is a room with chicken wire, pull the lever to get
in and smash the VFD bag. This will be just befor a "save" bar.

M-Uncle Monty's house where Klaus goes upstairs, smash the top bos in front of
the lever that moves the "lizard" picture.

N-In Uncle Monty's basement after defeating the bald man before going into the
snake in basket room, smash the barrels just before Klaus finds the tree
trimmer.

O-In Uncle Monty's yard, the VFD bag in front of the shed the oil can is found.

P-In Uncle Monty's yard, smash the VFD crate on the left in front of the 2
topiary bushes.

Q-In the tunnel, on the search for the last reptile, smash the crate near the
gate that leads to the exit ladder.

R-On Violet's search for the items Aunt Josephine requested, go in the store,
turn the sailor's wheel, and a lever will appear, pull it and it will open a
place over the fireplace.

S-When Klaus takes over the item search and goes to the house, smash the
barrels on the left side of the house.

T-In Aunt Josephine's house when Klaus is searching for the map, go the 1st
room on the left, go thru the wardrobe and smash the suitcase.

U-When Klaus gets thru the wardrobe, he'll end up in a bedroom, look behind the
fisherman's portrait.

V-In Curdled Cave, just after killing the bats, smash thru the odd shaped wall
on the left and it will be in one of the crates.

W-In one of the crates just before the first bridge.

X-While Klaus is searching for the parts for the grappling hook, in the room
with the braided rug, look behind the portrait by pushing the switch on the
desk. Do this before picking up the rug.

Y-Before going up the stairs (where the "save" bar is) go around the brick
section and smash the part of the wall where there is just one brick missing
and it will be in the crate on the left along with a rat.

Z-In the room at the top of the stairs, after defeating the woman where you get
the third "eye strip" go into the closet, and smash the crate.
